I spent most of it in the garage working on projects and I feel like I accomplished so much. Two of the projects I finished were these picket fence organizers. I did one in green…….</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-NCoyAzGRL_A/U2rMk7mL8fI/AAAAAAAAJ4A/1gMVKF-aNxg/s1600-h/0083.jpg"><img title="008" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="008" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-htxpLafnxMc/U2rMl1Xd1AI/AAAAAAAAJ4I/yArwnaBdLMc/008_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="402" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center"> …….and the other in white. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-JINA5PzMUqQ/U2rMmsB_T5I/AAAAAAAAJ4Q/eo52U-0Mmjg/s1600-h/0127.jpg"><img title="012" style="display: inline" alt="012" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-y8UskAdQLrk/U2rMnQkV1PI/AAAAAAAAJ4Y/H13hsjR3FOs/012_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="347" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I had enough picket fencing left over from making potting benches to make two of them.</p> <p align="center"><font color="#c8a238"></font><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ukirBsr76AU/U2rMoAxFzaI/AAAAAAAAJ4g/uhmdpn6ctd8/s1600-h/0103.jpg"><img title="010" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="010" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-MRVDBYZ5g8s/U2rMo2fvZ9I/AAAAAAAAJ4o/4z8qAitMDzc/010_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="357" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I was so proud of myself today because I hooked up the air compressor and used the nail gun for the first time without Charlie’s help. I have used the nail gun many times before but Charlie has always hooked it up for me.</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-uX-6lZyrWuY/U2rMqN2NDHI/AAAAAAAAJ4w/fC77cC-0iKc/s1600-h/0133.jpg"><img title="013" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="013" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-91oL54nLS0A/U2rMq8_Vu_I/AAAAAAAAJ44/lUUnpwUuZPg/013_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="377" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Don’t you just love days where you feel like you have accomplished so much? I’m hoping tomorrow will be another productive day but I have a funny feeling it won’t be. I am going to be working on an old washstand and it needs a lot of work but I’m going to think positive. Maybe it’s not as bad as I think it is. I’ll keep you posted! </p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful and productive day tomorrow!</p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font></p> Gailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03624667188803895684noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384833637743503154.post-82333556710234315592014-05-06T07:05:00.000-04:002014-05-06T19:54:01.894-04:00The Tobacco Basket<p align="center">Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The weather here was absolutely gorgeous! Last week, I was given a tobacco basket that I said I would share with you where I was going to hang it. The other day my door bell rang and it was my next door neighbor. She asked me to come over, if I had a moment . Of course I said yes and walked right over there! </p> <p align="center">Sitting there was this beautiful oval coffee table. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-P5peE-0UPfo/U1ppCIhlXnI/AAAAAAAAJxE/L_sgIR21f0g/s1600-h/0033.jpg"><img title="003" style="display: inline" alt="003" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-VwYShcPKRbU/U1ppDAfDSPI/AAAAAAAAJxM/K0lg_5T2aKU/003_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="622" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I wasted no time on this piece when I brought it home. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-3tVD_I6fqOc/U1ppElv3QRI/AAAAAAAAJxU/5cFTfTo6ZcE/s1600-h/0047.jpg"><img title="004" style="display: inline" alt="004" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-BfTfa3Ez2B0/U1ppFmOXkyI/AAAAAAAAJxc/WRYTvymSQPA/004_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="495" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I sanded the top and painted the base with Annie Sloan white chalk paint. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ntziEzAtfPw/U1ppG1ukccI/AAAAAAAAJxk/o-82zxaSVLc/s1600-h/0097.jpg"><img title="009" style="display: inline" alt="009" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-W4n3TycygEg/U1ppHsEaQOI/AAAAAAAAJxs/Frm1PTbfWlA/009_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="467" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I lightly distressed it, applied Annie Sloan clear wax and restrained the top with Minwax Wood Finish Provincial. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6fZD6pC3GtY/U1ppJETK9PI/AAAAAAAAJx0/eD5GxaAognc/s1600-h/0067.jpg"><img title="006" style="display: inline" alt="006" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-0fA9BZ0KJFY/U1ppJwa437I/AAAAAAAAJx8/LBpmvSpf7bM/006_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="550" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">And, then there was this old weathered rocking chair. I started painting it with Miss Mustard Seed Lucketts Green milk paint before I realized that I hadn’t taken a picture of it.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-_bIaelQcC4Y/U1ppK6a40eI/AAAAAAAAJyE/hTsm-cH0jJs/s1600-h/0023.jpg"><img title="002" style="display: inline" alt="002" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-33jGlm5w5LA/U1ppLpDoKCI/AAAAAAAAJyM/lShoca3BFJ8/002_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="356" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Although I didn’t get as much chipping with the milk paint as I had hoped, I am still happy with the results. Some of the old white that was once on the rocker still shows through. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-LXcUl6Y6Jas/U1ppMpvkurI/AAAAAAAAJyU/9PmIusCnf6Y/s1600-h/0019.jpg"><img title="001" style="display: inline" alt="001" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-UOIsNnwYkzM/U1ppND8shBI/AAAAAAAAJyc/M1Kdg5y_v34/001_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="474" height="445"></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-GP2XJh8EjXE/U1ppOX60tOI/AAAAAAAAJyk/VzTeQBBz_80/s1600-h/00313.jpg"><img title="003" style="display: inline" alt="003" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Zsg0EnS024U/U1ppP5ejjLI/AAAAAAAAJys/1yY2Ns7Fi-s/003_thumb5.jpg?imgmax=800" width="486" height="661"></a></p> <p align="center">I love these attic finds especially since I barely left the comfort of my own home to get them. I have spent many hours hunting for treasures like these! </p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I wanted to share some of my dining room changes. Keep in mind that I’m not quite done yet. I plan to repaint the dining room in July or August when it’s too hot to be outside. Right now the weather is too pretty to be inside painting! To see a before of my dining room you can go <a href="http://gailsdecorativetouch.blogspot.com/2012/03/dining-room-and-salvation-army-silver.html">here.</a> </p> <p align="center">The biggest change I made to the dining room was adding black buffalo check fabric. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-69o7NYuOp1Q/U1b--FZK5nI/AAAAAAAAJuM/SHrl1TXX8ac/s1600-h/0015.jpg"><img title="001" style="display: inline" alt="001" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-RIkeuvxxyNg/U1b-_Myh8aI/AAAAAAAAJuU/hdnPcmdCXa4/001_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="485" height="705"></a></p> <p align="center">I repainted two dining room arm chairs from white to black and added the black buffalo check fabric to the seating. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9evDgcz9jac/U1b_ANwl53I/AAAAAAAAJuc/nH-SoIESqxY/s1600-h/00231%25255B1%25255D.jpg"><img title="002" style="display: inline" alt="002" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-wL8qlzolyw0/U1b_AqTSUWI/AAAAAAAAJuk/erBAc0KuFNo/002_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="441" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">The picture behind the chair is one that I had forgot that I had. It is a photograph of my grandmother feeding chickens on the family farm. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-28XV2F21TQI/U1b_BnCAFVI/AAAAAAAAJuo/5X8fg2ry9iE/s1600-h/0093.jpg"><img title="009" style="display: inline" alt="009" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-DUvVeNk1dEg/U1b_CvSW7xI/AAAAAAAAJu0/4V6WvrBQixg/009_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="640" height="456"></a></p> <p align="center">I found it about a month ago in an old suitcase that I was given. We’re guessing she was probably about eleven or twelve years old when this picture was taken. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-3XMFAmdW3Tk/U1b_DuAcH5I/AAAAAAAAJu8/7V0NPgyIgUU/s1600-h/0023.jpg"><img title="002" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="002" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-MmjvzmKcFx8/U1b_EZNtiuI/AAAAAAAAJvA/Vqaxyzc1aHw/002_thumb11.jpg?imgmax=800" width="485" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I kept the plates on the wall but I changed the vignette on top of the buffet. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ECm0ABnTDvc/U1b_FQ4-ioI/AAAAAAAAJvI/xhiZ0eKkRYw/s1600-h/0073.jpg"><img title="007" style="display: inline" alt="007" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-CBkbLphCEFM/U1b_GU6aMAI/AAAAAAAAJvQ/nj6fVByPYpE/007_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="640" height="445"></a></p> <p align="center">I replaced the dining room chairs with these chairs that I purchased at an auction a while back. </p> <p align="center"> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-hGe6F6FrRVY/U1b_HGIg8LI/AAAAAAAAJvY/bEL0gmrLwYc/s1600-h/003%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img title="003" style="display: inline" alt="003" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-R5a5KVZbFWA/U1b_H2zOjGI/AAAAAAAAJvk/Uxo0JSe3dTA/003_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="428" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">As you can see I painted all of them black. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-rpHa3JHTHEw/U1b_JwOcRUI/AAAAAAAAJvs/oAZLvboOjSI/s1600-h/0195.jpg"><img title="019" style="display: inline" alt="019" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-BZej-rDsq24/U1b_Lt6MQOI/AAAAAAAAJv0/yngOx8bQFWk/019_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="464" height="668"></a></p> <p align="center">I wanted to change the lighting in the dining room but I haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for. So until I do, I am making do with what I have. I did make a change to the shades. I covered the shades with twisted manila rope. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-_S_UW3SAxNw/U1b_MkKMxQI/AAAAAAAAJv8/nhxD6nAR8Mw/s1600-h/01731.jpg"><img title="017" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="017" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-v5gZfhhHeZ8/U1b_NcTEufI/AAAAAAAAJwE/ZmrkYThruIc/017_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="535" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Covering those shades has really made a big difference. It was an easy fix for very little money. I priced out new shades and they were expensive!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-7s2EQd3A1Ks/U1b_OuT-nrI/AAAAAAAAJwM/GoeRPa-JX-k/s1600-h/0173.jpg"><img title="017" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="017" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Exmp8hd22bk/U1b_Pa7fJjI/AAAAAAAAJwU/CDQMk2SZp-M/017_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="462" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">When I purchased the black buffalo check fabric, I purchased enough fabric so I could make simple valances out of it to hang in the dining room. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ofbY76RaT1w/U1b_QXJ1QKI/AAAAAAAAJwc/1Cq7vP0SJK8/s1600-h/008%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img title="008" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="008" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-66r4MRlKKFg/U1b_Q4Mk_HI/AAAAAAAAJwk/Y6P51D93vpI/008_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="424" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-W3Zf3OLHIZ4/U1b_R1xeffI/AAAAAAAAJws/62LKH-dsdIM/s1600-h/00231.jpg"><img title="002" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="002" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-c0aQkXV90pc/U1b_SQBAZ_I/AAAAAAAAJw0/tVjLdYvuOHs/002_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="416" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">The inspiration behind my changes in the dining room were the result of finding my grandmother’s picture. I’m so glad I did!</p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.</p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font> </p> <p align="center">Sharing with:</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://www.savvysouthernstyle.net/2014/04/wow-us-wednesdays-166.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SavvySouthernStyle+%28Savvy+Southern+Style%29">Savvy Southern Style</a> for WOW Us Wednesday</p> Gailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03624667188803895684noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384833637743503154.post-51611166311854631622014-04-15T07:24:00.000-04:002014-04-15T07:24:33.946-04:00Head Board Bench<p align="center">Hello Everyone! Several months ago, I purchased this drop leaf table at an auction knowing that it was going to require some work. Now that I’m done with all the hard work of sanding, staining and painting, I’m not so sure I’m going to sell it. In between working on projects in the garage, I have been doing some much needed spring cleaning. I feel as if I have neglected my home since opening my booth. I have cleaned the kitchen and dinning room from head to toe and at the same time I made quite a few changes, especially in the dinning room. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Nk5rHzTaK0g/Uz3LnKs2CRI/AAAAAAAAJrA/agoPUcsLqS8/s1600-h/016%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="016" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left: 0px; display: block; padding-right: 0px; margin-right: auto" border="0" alt="016" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-5qGRqHalNFE/Uz3Ln1Kd-7I/AAAAAAAAJrI/g7rdRbSSLEk/016_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="403" height="484"></a></p> <p align="center">I really love the changes in the dinning room. Our son-in-law will be deploying sometime this month to Afghanistan. Most of his Army career has been in Special Forces training so this will be his first deployment. Several months ago while browsing around the antique mall, where my booth is located, I found this old rusty pitch fork. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-aYKLYSjbZQU/UzCnbgaN-AI/AAAAAAAAJpk/sZcNZJZmkgg/s1600-h/0179.jpg"><img title="017" style="display: inline" alt="017" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-up9qruxZm_c/UzCnclwoLMI/AAAAAAAAJps/qo2UQRv2L5M/017_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="377" height="672"></a></p> <p align="center">I just fell in love with it’s worn weathered rustiness. Look at the handle! </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-8yyb8KiYMOs/UzCnd1hELWI/AAAAAAAAJp0/N1beE2StBfk/s1600-h/0277.jpg"><img title="027" style="display: inline" alt="027" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-w1DrW0GqsVY/UzCneksMreI/AAAAAAAAJp8/SETqmIUV0Gw/027_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="610" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">But I wasn’t sure what I would do with it when I bought it. The other day, while placing papered eggs that I made on my mantel shelf, I thought about that pitch fork and the possibility of hanging it beside my mantel shelf. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-RNO3ecJXExg/UzCngLhVpXI/AAAAAAAAJqE/BCHHS_33maw/s1600-h/0197.jpg"><img title="019" style="display: inline" alt="019" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-_oneKiC8ciw/UzCnhL-IAcI/AAAAAAAAJqI/jv9mXfMONBI/019_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="640" height="417"></a></p> <p align="center">And that’s just what I did. I dug it out of the garage, cleaned it up a little and hung it in the family room beside my mantel shelf. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ZYjEnVvOWls/UzCniHdtfwI/AAAAAAAAJqQ/IR3uMqdwxY8/s1600-h/0433.jpg"><img title="043" style="display: inline" alt="043" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-UtsvGryojzA/UzCnjDMCIJI/AAAAAAAAJqY/sL5RbX19FlQ/043_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="555" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">At first I wasn’t sure if it was going to be too much on that wall but you know what…..I really like it hanging there! </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-NthUsM0QAjs/UzCnkLKmTWI/AAAAAAAAJqk/zh1EtTOBBCc/s1600-h/0565.jpg"><img title="056" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="056" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-4n_qT9Qp7ts/UzCnlUg7XfI/AAAAAAAAJqs/ohMZt9d80Sk/056_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="463" height="638"></a></p> <p align="center">I think it will be there for a while. I can just envision hanging small wreaths from it! </p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week!</p> <p align="center"> <font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font></p> <p align="center"></p> <p align="center"></p> <p align="center"></p> <p align="center"></p> <p align="center"></p> <p align="center"></p> <p align="center">P.S. I have been so busy this whole week working on projects for my booth. This past weekend, I believe people had Spring fever because things were moving out of my booth. I sold quite a few things including the potting bench that I just placed in my booth (which you can read about <a href="http://gailsdecorativetouch.blogspot.com/2014/03/happy-and-content-with-bakers-rack.html">here</a>). With the potting bench and other things selling, it left my booth looking rather sparse. So, Charlie and I went to Lowe’s and bought lumber and fencing to make a potting bench to replace the one that sold. And this is what we came up with. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Vbvo0DRggkQ/UyzRS1x3AVI/AAAAAAAAJoc/v9JA2L1FVH4/s1600-h/008%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="008" style="display: inline" alt="008" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-q-99t2LHJI4/UyzRUGKW-II/AAAAAAAAJok/yAdE9BnCilo/008_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="480" height="768"></a></p> <p align="center">On the day that we started making the potting bench, I tried to take pictures but they did not turn out very well. It was cloudy which makes it very dark in the garage. But I can tell you what materials we used to make the potting bench. We built the frame with 1x3’s and the legs were 2x3’s. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-fTwTKrmvuTk/UyzRU4lKEmI/AAAAAAAAJos/s_lE0jyjU5U/s1600-h/009%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img title="009" style="display: inline" alt="009" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Nw79fEHc1Do/UyzRVqVxepI/AAAAAAAAJo0/_HjgTdL7WdU/009_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="506" height="768"></a></p> <p align="center">For the back of the potting bench we used 6’ cedar fence boards. We also used it for the top and bottom shelf. To assemble it, we used glue, the nail air gun and screws.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Y4AqMGgBUWo/UyzRW25hoeI/AAAAAAAAJo8/N3MLetuy5Iw/s1600-h/003%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img title="003" style="display: inline" alt="003" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Hy0lE45r0ug/UyzRYG4481I/AAAAAAAAJpE/4SB6B1ZIPGc/003_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="524" height="660"></a></p> <p align="center"> I wanted the potting bench to look weathered so I first stained it with Minwax in Dark Walnut. After the stain dried, I dry brushed a watered down white flat paint on it. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-br5g3m1IaPc/UyzRY5T1OLI/AAAAAAAAJpM/ykLDlYnjL3I/s1600-h/005%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="005" style="display: inline" alt="005" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-HDIqKhVKMjc/UyzRZ9m4RlI/AAAAAAAAJpU/MbhNQ3eJEco/005_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="526" height="768"></a></p> <p align="center">I think I achieved the look I was going for and I also think that Charlie and I didn’t do too bad for our first experience on making a potting bench!</p> <p align="center">Now lets see how long this potting bench lasts in my booth! </p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Back in the fall I purchased this baker’s rack at an indoor yard sale. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-sJJacld5BE8/UyLZd1Yb2FI/AAAAAAAAJks/8syWmQafUbg/s1600-h/0032.jpg"><img title="003" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="003" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-R1lCDPyG8r0/UyLZe8ZLlzI/AAAAAAAAJk0/xVAJ076cUFc/003_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="332" height="500"></a> </p> <p align="center">It has been sitting in my shed waiting for a little make-over. I wanted to paint the drawers and replace the wood on the top. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-MlKrL81e33M/UyLZfkq4ivI/AAAAAAAAJk8/9f0cJXBBauI/s1600-h/0042.jpg"><img title="004" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" border="0" alt="004" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-k5CXUiw4xZ4/UyLZgYaQLWI/AAAAAAAAJlE/3QCsBMAqAj8/004_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="536" height="500"></a> </p> <p align="center">Last week when we had a few warm days, I pulled it out of the shed. I gave it a good scrub down, painted the drawers and replaced the wood. </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Fw0agC1j-Nc/UyLZjUW_CpI/AAAAAAAAJlM/XnbLEp92m38/s1600-h/0038.jpg"><img title="003" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="003" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-eroCJuZjuuo/UyLZkUlc1MI/AAAAAAAAJlU/gemFU5jcI40/003_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="428" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Over the weekend, I took it to my booth. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-m5UKvqYqWvw/UyLZlb70A7I/AAAAAAAAJlc/w2kbQKKZByU/s1600-h/0118.jpg"><img title="011" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="011" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-jO9eNHQ-xeo/UyLZmAXEhhI/AAAAAAAAJlk/gae6T0Lf3K0/011_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="396" height="768"></a></p> <p align="center">I was happy and content to finish this job and place it in my booth, that is until the other day. I was browsing Pinterest and I stumbled upon several baker’s racks that made me think that maybe I should have kept the one I just took to my booth. Take a look at a few that I pinned! </p> <p align="center"><img alt="Bakers Rack" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/ed/36/4d/ed364d6315ba89d831ccf45302c02e6a.jpg" width="361" height="480"></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/140456082103564697/">Source</a></p> <p align="center"><img alt="need to get a baker's rack so I can do this! What was once all bright and shiny is now rusty and weathered. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-gj9ktA5VL6I/UxnIqxMDIPI/AAAAAAAAJi4/E2hyVmC0Nyk/s1600-h/0383.jpg"><img title="038" style="display: inline" alt="038" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ISGDOxcl-Ok/UxnIsIQxr_I/AAAAAAAAJjA/YuLCnL6tb6Y/038_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="536" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">While walking Harley the other day I spotted two watering cans that I placed behind my shed all covered in snow. They had been sitting behind my shed for probably a year or more. I dug them out of the snow, brought them in the house and cleaned them up. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-tYdtOZwNkHE/UxnItEQ9grI/AAAAAAAAJjI/xNc8E6_V-NI/s1600-h/0413.jpg"><img title="041" style="display: inline" alt="041" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-7T-rFuKG-VU/UxnIt-RQ2wI/AAAAAAAAJjQ/MzAgqfh1vPI/041_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="525" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">After they dried, I stenciled the #3 on one and a #5 on the other.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wOYpGo22HMc/UxnIuxsF2kI/AAAAAAAAJjY/F20IyjrElHQ/s1600-h/0373.jpg"><img title="037" style="display: inline" alt="037" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-5-MN54S7CIA/UxnIvgVzS3I/AAAAAAAAJjg/1UFfcP3Imjw/037_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="501" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I don’t know about you but I LOVE when Mother Nature does her magic! Although I’m sure she probably had some help with the process with weed killer being sprayed behind the shed.</p> <p align="center">Not only did I find these two watering cans behind the shed I also discovered some other treasures as well but that will be another post. </p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.</p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font></p> Gailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03624667188803895684noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384833637743503154.post-56974202280568792552014-03-04T12:54:00.001-05:002014-03-04T12:58:10.641-05:00Old Trim Fencing and Decorative Knobs<blockquote> <p align="center">Yesterday, Old Man Winter graced us with his presence with more snow and frigid temperatures. </p></blockquote> <p align="center"><font color="#c8a238"></font><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Pdyyu1U-CqY/UxYTUjLd1VI/AAAAAAAAJhc/MUQLoiZ7iJk/s1600-h/0313.jpg"><img title="031" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="031" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-laFpd_WCpwQ/UxYTVUcYE4I/AAAAAAAAJhk/RUdIrqvMzKM/031_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="388" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">With temperatures in the single digits, working on projects in the garage yesterday wasn’t going to happen. Now that the Olympics is coming to a close and the weather is starting to warm up a little, it’s time for me to get off my you know what and get busy in the garage! </p> <p align="center">A few weeks ago, my daughter-in-law’s friend asked if I would like to have this little foyer table. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wvvGsCGb1qQ/UwdU_xrTfsI/AAAAAAAAJgU/i84R9I2drdU/s1600-h/0271.jpg"><img title="027" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="027" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-mDrjGsh5L-Q/UwdVAj15yxI/AAAAAAAAJgc/1OVNsM9GfBg/027_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="538" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Of course, I was happy to say yes! </p> <p align="center">When I bring home furniture pieces of any kind, nine times out of ten, I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do with them. But when I first saw this piece I knew what I was going to do with it. First, I removed the side and back panels to the table top. Then I re-stained it and gave it a fresh coat of paint. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-EnyoWTeEm8g/UwdVBF9ZktI/AAAAAAAAJgg/ZJcwPwmXhOM/s1600-h/00912.jpg"><img title="009" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="009" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-5LWpnf6A9Jc/UwdVB8bT27I/AAAAAAAAJgo/eCvqPFBACaY/009_thumb6.jpg?imgmax=800" width="471" height="700"></a></p> <p align="center">Don’t you love it when you have a vision for something and it turns out exactly how you envisioned it.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-JYi9fdL2O34/UwdVCVJDLJI/AAAAAAAAJg0/PHVlBYSv7sY/s1600-h/008%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img title="008" style="display: inline" alt="008" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-t75ZPF2_92A/UwdVC_Gek-I/AAAAAAAAJg8/HxvioNuIkBs/008_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="498" height="686"></a></p> <p align="center">I have a ton of other make-overs just waiting in the garage and I wish that they could be this quick and easy of a fix….but sad to say, they’re not!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-nVtnetkWFNI/UwdVDhyRAHI/AAAAAAAAJhA/yPV2CWJF9L0/s1600-h/0106.jpg"><img title="010" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="010" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-NTR6wdt7yvY/UwdVEJHEMCI/AAAAAAAAJhI/aMrM4iKDito/010_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="369" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!</p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font></p> Gailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03624667188803895684noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384833637743503154.post-30017559064363828132014-02-07T08:20:00.000-05:002014-02-07T08:20:33.832-05:00Harley says…….<p align="center">Go Team USA!</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-rtl1VLq8mvw/UvQQ2IUxhuI/AAAAAAAAJfU/HYzq2ndkpYQ/s1600-h/042%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img title="042" style="display: inline" alt="042" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-COovtLncphs/UvQQ2weoI3I/AAAAAAAAJfc/2xCZWdOVD-o/042_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="521" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">He has been sporting his patriotic bandana in support of Team USA! </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-kIxsEmi_pKk/UvQQ4LhGHJI/AAAAAAAAJfk/rX7lm3koTEA/s1600-h/017%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img title="017" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="017" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-1z3uCnoRpXA/UvQQ4w63TRI/AAAAAAAAJfs/mpCVUdNwNeM/017_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="593" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">We love the Olympics and we’re super excited that the Winter Olympics are officially underway! </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-pLiVr3hmAP8/UvQQ5jXVRTI/AAAAAAAAJf0/teUHBSEp-2U/s1600-h/031%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img title="031" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="031" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-LQdfNVaLvYc/UvQQ6IOoNAI/AAAAAAAAJf8/OR9HlPePNks/031_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="341" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Well, maybe not all of us.</p> <p align="center"><img title="041" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="041" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-iGkcaf-XqL4/UvQQ68ZSq0I/AAAAAAAAJgE/MYA-aehiSC8/041_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="369" height="480"></p> <p align="center">Harley only gets super excited when he is doing something he knows he is not suppose to do! Since it’s been extremely cold here, I have been doing little projects inside the house instead of the garage. Our garage is heated but the floors are cement and my feet get cold! So needless to say, I don’t stay out there very long. One of the projects that I finished today was this vanity chair. I can’t remember where I got it, but it’s dirty! </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-IT1Kj3VV3H4/UumIFmMSjHI/AAAAAAAAJcE/n0FtdgjKUgM/s1600-h/0253.jpg"><img title="025" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="025" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-0mIsgyLuaFI/UumIGRSJ2uI/AAAAAAAAJcM/MBuScT6qc_Q/025_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="372" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Before I painted it, I removed the seat and cleaned it with TSP Substitute. If you’ve never tried this cleaning solution…..it’s wonderful. It’s a Klean Strip product. It removes grease, grime, dirt and chalking paint. It’s ideal for painted wood, brick, concrete and metal. </p> <p align="center"><img alt="TSP Substitute<font color=red> (Discontinued)</font></font>" src="http://www.wmbarr.com/Images/ProductImages/GKTS94331_2_R.jpg"></p> <p align="center">Anyway, after giving the chair a good scrub down, I painted it with Annie Sloan white chalk paint. I distressed the edges and applied clear wax to it. I replaced the seat covering with indoor/outdoor fabric that I purchased at Jo-Anne’s. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-jFlYl8ubo8s/UumIHPGu1RI/AAAAAAAAJcU/9idOe8jmjmI/s1600-h/0086.jpg"><img title="008" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="008" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Gdz8jrKnLD0/UumIHtZPPSI/AAAAAAAAJcc/qwuZq-sw97M/008_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="408" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">Isn’t the fabric pretty? </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-o9GawS8Nyv0/UumIIl_gOdI/AAAAAAAAJck/ny-XhxYuXcQ/s1600-h/0045.jpg"><img title="004" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="004" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Vhu_wq0dA7c/UumIJSYJFKI/AAAAAAAAJcs/rqEd4tgcSvE/004_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="512" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">It has the prettiest shades of grey in it.</p> <p align="center">I took it outside this afternoon for a photo shoot. It’s suppose to be a little warmer this weekend with no snow in the forecast…..YAY! </p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font></p> Gailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03624667188803895684noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384833637743503154.post-74358926041569798262014-01-27T18:23:00.001-05:002014-01-27T18:42:13.672-05:00A True Love…..<p align="center">Hello Everyone! With Valentine’s Day only a few weeks away, I thought I better get busy and make a few Valentine things for my booth. This time last year, this canvas wall hanging was a big seller for me. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-4HPeGaeuZ1s/UubqTucYouI/AAAAAAAAJbM/meXc1sMe95w/s1600-h/0163.jpg"><img title="016" style="display: inline" alt="016" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-dbJA2c4fCxw/UubqUtjdJDI/AAAAAAAAJbU/K2vqenpToPI/016_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="422" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">So, I thought I would make some more. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ZIjRDlswySo/UubqV49T0II/AAAAAAAAJbc/RYam597ieEI/s1600-h/0203.jpg"><img title="020" style="display: inline" alt="020" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-kNPzS3clD1c/UubqWT5zrzI/AAAAAAAAJbk/_NODm4x3DI8/020_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="389" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">I personally love this verse and so does my hubby! In fact, he asked if I was going to make one for us. With that being said, I think I already have his Valentine’s Day gift! </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-tHaSeoR61tQ/UubqXdNw3PI/AAAAAAAAJbs/GgJBMOOq11U/s1600-h/0173.jpg"><img title="017" style="float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto" alt="017" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-uaz2nN5FEyw/UubqYG3ZuNI/AAAAAAAAJb0/C8FHnocUQoA/017_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="413" height="480"></a></p> <p align="center">As always, thanks for stopping by! I hope you all stay safe and warm from this winter chill and have a wonderful week. </p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="4">Sharing with:</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="4"><a href="http://linda-coastalcharm.blogspot.com/2014/01/nifty-thrifty-tuesday-no197.html">Coastal Charms</a> for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold"></font></p> Gailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03624667188803895684noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384833637743503154.post-78688276410781082882014-01-24T13:22:00.001-05:002014-01-24T13:22:10.755-05:00Desk Make-over<p align="center">Hello Everyone! Today, I thought I would share with you a recent desk make-over that I did. Back in the fall, I purchased this desk at a yard sale. It was structurally sound but was in need of some work, as you can see. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-nu73n0ttaGI/UuKvOAbR4rI/AAAAAAAAJZ0/aTXAGg1GfQ0/s1600-h/0012.jpg"><img title="001" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="001" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-TL7g_aBfI6g/UuKvO05v8fI/AAAAAAAAJZ8/7C6omoE5pSg/001_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="660" height="447"></a> </p> <p align="center">I painted it with Annie Sloan graphite chalk paint. And here is the after. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-93Uw_HNR8ww/UuKvPR6hCYI/AAAAAAAAJaE/9H89XabVbPI/s1600-h/0072.jpg"><img title="007" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" border="0" alt="007" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-mI1nF30k5xE/UuKvQOmJLII/AAAAAAAAJaM/2DZ7gtanmWw/007_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="533" height="500"></a> </p> <p align="center"> I left the top of the desk as it was but I lightly sanded it and and applied <br>three coats of Wipe-On Polyurethane, lightly sanding between each coat of Polyurethane. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-hLgm5Vl9hVw/UuKvQnNyopI/AAAAAAAAJaU/NEMxapTwBeA/s1600-h/0082.jpg"><img title="008" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="008" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-EKjS_oY3lJM/UuKvRrZzC7I/AAAAAAAAJac/u-5Zj3KjDks/008_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="531" height="500"></a> </p> <p align="center">I also changed out the hardware. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Trt3g4XjtjE/UuKvSeqhPAI/AAAAAAAAJak/xzRSHlPnvD8/s1600-h/0062.jpg"><img title="006" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" border="0" alt="006" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-216z_LS3qRs/UuKvTGt0wRI/AAAAAAAAJas/g1U-tbLVDR4/006_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="420" height="500"></a></p> <p align="center">Whenever I’m in doubt about choosing a color for a piece of furniture, I tend to go with black. And so far, it has done me well. The desk and chair only lasted a day in my booth! </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-5cgGk0kQAZ8/UuKvTrU5ftI/AAAAAAAAJa0/Y6XV35GGVwI/s1600-h/0075.jpg"><img title="007" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" border="0" alt="007" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ASnE4Rgfk88/UuKvUY-ZWKI/AAAAAAAAJa8/-4USas0UO10/007_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800" width="533" height="500"></a></p> <p align="center">Whenever I see a desk for sale (at a reasonable price) in my travels I will buy them. Every desk I have had in my booth has sold rather quickly. </p> <p align="center">Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a safe and warm weekend. It’s still bitter cold here and snow is still on the ground from Monday’s snow storm. They are anticipating more snow for tomorrow….I say, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! I could use another snow day just to chill with Charlie and maybe just maybe beat him at Yahtzee this time…..he beat my butt bad on Monday….LOL! </p> <p align="center"><font size="7" face="Script MT Bold">Gail</font></p> Gailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03624667188803895684noreply@blogger.com14
