Mantel Shelf and an Old Rusty Pitch Fork

Hello Everyone!  Several months ago while browsing around the antique mall, where my booth is located, I found this old rusty pitch fork.

017

I just fell in love with it’s worn weathered rustiness.  Look at the handle!

027

But I wasn’t sure what I would do with it when I bought it.  The other day, while placing papered eggs that I made on my mantel shelf,  I thought about that pitch fork and the possibility of hanging it beside my mantel shelf.

019

And that’s just what I did.  I dug it out of the garage, cleaned it up a little and hung it in the family room beside my mantel shelf.

043

At first I wasn’t sure if it was going to be too much on that wall but you know what…..I really like it hanging there!

056

I think it will be there for a while.  I can just envision hanging small wreaths from it!

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

  Gail

P.S.  Because I get so many emails in regards to my mantel shelf, I feel this is worth noting again, I purchased it many years ago at an auction!

Another Potting Bench!

Whew…..what a week it has been!  I have been so busy this whole week working on  projects for my booth.  This past weekend, I believe people had Spring fever because things were moving out of my booth.  I sold quite a few things including the potting bench that I just placed in my booth (which you can read about here).   With the potting bench and other things selling, it left my booth looking rather sparse.   So, Charlie and I went to Lowe’s and bought lumber and fencing to make a potting bench to replace the one that sold.   And this is what we came up with.

008

On the day that we started making the potting bench, I tried to take pictures but they did not turn out very well.  It was cloudy which makes it very dark in the garage.   But I can tell you what materials we used to make the potting bench.  We built the frame with 1x3’s and the legs were 2x3’s.

009

For the back of the potting bench we used 6’ cedar fence boards.   We also used it for the top and bottom shelf.  To assemble it, we used glue, the nail air gun and screws.

003

I wanted the potting bench to look weathered so I first stained it with Minwax in Dark Walnut.  After the stain dried, I dry brushed a watered down white flat paint on it.

005

I think I achieved the look I was going for and I also think that Charlie and I didn’t do too bad for our first experience on making a potting bench!

Now lets see how long this potting bench lasts in my booth!

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  We’re suppose to have gorgeous weather here this weekend….HOORAY!

Happy and Content with Bakers Rack

Hello Everyone!  Back in the fall I purchased this baker’s rack at an indoor yard sale.

003

It has been sitting in my shed waiting for a little make-over.  I wanted to paint the drawers and replace the wood on the top.

004

Last week when we had a few warm days, I pulled it out of the shed.  I gave it a good scrub down, painted the drawers and replaced the wood.

003

Over the weekend, I took it to my booth.

011

I was happy and content to finish this job and place it in my booth, that is until the other day.  I was browsing Pinterest and I stumbled upon several baker’s racks that made me think that maybe I should have kept the one I just took to my booth.   Take a look at a few that I pinned!

Aren’t they all beautifully accessorized!  And those were only a few that I pinned.

Guess what I did…..I called the Antique Mall where I have my booth and asked if the baker’s rack was still in my booth and they said YES!!!   The next day, I made a trip there and brought the baker’s rack back home.  Right now, I have it sitting on my screened in porch just waiting for the weather to get warm again so that I can accessorize it!

013

You want to know what I took to my booth to replace the baker’s rack that I brought back home……..

008

….yep, my potting bench that I had on my screened in porch!

Hopefully, it will sell to someone who will get as much enjoyment out of it as I have the past few years.

002

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  The weather here for the weekend is suppose to be nice so hopefully I will have the opportunity to accessorize my baker’s rack!!

Farmers Market Advertisement

Hello Everyone!  I was so excited when some new stencils I ordered finally arrived in the mail.  I couldn’t wait to get started with my new Farmers Market stencil.  I had a cabinet drawer and a cabinet panel in the shed that was the perfect fit for this stencil as you can see.

002

 006

My first thought was to paint the cabinet drawer but I’m so glad I didn’t.

003

I purchased three more stencils and I can’t wait to get started on other projects using them.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Watering Cans

Hello Everyone!  What was once all bright and shiny is now rusty and weathered.

038

While walking Harley the other day I spotted two watering cans that I placed behind my shed all covered in snow.  They had been sitting behind my shed for probably a year or more.  I dug them out of the snow, brought them in the house and cleaned them up.

041

After they dried, I stenciled the #3 on one and a #5 on the other.

037

I don’t know about you but I LOVE when Mother Nature does her magic!   Although I’m sure she probably had some help with the process with weed killer being sprayed behind the shed.

Not only did I find these two watering cans behind the shed I also discovered some other treasures as well but that will be another post.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Old Trim Fencing and Decorative Knobs

Yesterday, Old Man Winter graced us with his presence with more snow and frigid temperatures.

031

With temperatures in the single digits, working on projects in the garage yesterday wasn’t going to happen.  So, I worked on little projects inside the house.  One of the projects that I worked on were these crosses.

017

 026

028

I made them with some old trim fencing that I picked up at a yard sale last summer.  I placed a decorative knob in the center of each cross.   I made six of them which I hopefully will take to my booth tomorrow.

I completed a couple of other little projects and will be sharing them soon……even a Pottery Barn Knockoff!

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.
