Hello Everyone! I can’t believe that it has been over a week since my last post. With an upcoming fall show just a few weeks away, I swear I’ve been out in my garage from sun up to sun down the last week or so. I have been working on all kinds of projects for the upcoming fall show one of which is this fall rag quilt.
While I was making this quilt, I thought of my Mom. The pattern I used was my Mom’s. When my Dad got sick and she quit her job to stay at home with him, she purchased this quilt pattern at JoAnne’s in hopes that she would have the time to make one for all of us (her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren). Unfortunately, she never did because she got sick shortly after my Dad past.
In addition to a whole lot of painting and some sewing, I’ve also been working on making fall wreaths and floral arrangements. Using a pair of rain boots, I made this fall arrangement below.
I tell you what, planning and preparing for this fall show is a lot of work! But hopefully in the end it will be worth it.
As always, thanks for stopping by and hope you all have a wonderful week!
Gail

ReplyDeleteGail, the quilt is beautiful and I love your floral arrangements. I've never made a quilt,I would love too but really not sure where I would start. My sister has several her mother -in-law made and they are beautiful. You will do well @ your show.
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt, Gail! The fabrics are lovely and this is perfect for the cooler weather. I have a rag quilt on my list of things to get to, but who knows when that might be! I'm trying to get a few thing set for my holiday market, too. I'm sure you will do fine and I hope you'll let us know how the show goes.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt, too!!!!! So prim and fall. The flower arrangements are beautiful!!!! I hope you have a great show!
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty Gail. I thought it was a while since I have seen you. Time sure whips buy. Love the boots with the sunflowers too.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have that quilt...would work perfectly in my little country home (or cabin) And what a great idea with the fall decor in the boots.
ReplyDeleteAutumn colors are my favorite and you've created some lovelies! Your quilt would look so cozy draped over a chair or the end of a bed. I'm sure it won't last long!
ReplyDeleteBeen there! Done That!! We used to do a spring, fall and winter show.
ReplyDeleteBut that ended abruptly when we couldn't compete with the made in china woodworking. Your quilt is awesome. Love the colours that you chose. I have a rag quilt that I made many years ago and it's used in our great room.
So cozy on a cool night. Here's to a great show!!
That quilt is fabulous Gail! I wish I had the patience to learn how to make those.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! I love the frayed edges - it adds a little "oomph" to it! And naturally, I adore the autumn colors. I'm so impressed; I can barely sew a straight line. :)
ReplyDeleteStopping by from DIY by Design's Sizzle into Summer party. :)
That is one beautiful quilt! It just screams fall to me...I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are sitting here drooling over this quilt! We both think it just looks so comfy and it's in my favorite colors! Is there a number on the pattern or anything? Is it just several layers of fabric (squares), sewn together and frayed? Good luck on your fall show!
ReplyDeleteI think the quilt is a great tribute to your mom. I love the beautiful Fall colors and patterns.
ReplyDeleteYou have made a beautiful quilt...I feel like I need to create something....but I have just lost my oomph during this heat....hopefully, it will pass soon!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! I love quilts like these. I hope you draw my name at Christmas time!! : )

Rag quilts are really fun to make. Brings back memories of when I worked at the quilt shop. Love the colors and fabrics that you used. Also love the floral arrangement in the rain boots...so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI've done shows for 27 years now and you are so right that it is a lot of work to get ready for them. I'm getting ready for a big one that is in about 6 weeks...200,000 to 300,000 people come through it over that weekend.
Hope you have a great show.
