Outdated Entertainment Center

A little over a month ago, I purchased this outdated entertainment center at a thrift store.

017

Up until this past weekend, it had been sitting in the garage waiting for a make-over.  Because of the cold weather, I brought it inside the house to paint.

At first, I was undecided what color to paint it.  Since black is selling for me right now at my booth, I decided I would paint it black.

I first painted the whole piece with gray chalk paint and then applied black chalk paint.  In some of the areas, I purposely left some of the gray showing to give it that worn look.

Using the same gray chalk paint, I stenciled a design on the front doors.

I used the same hardware that was on it.  I updated it with black spray paint and some silver rub and buff.

With Charlie’s help, I replaced the back with a piece of bead board and added a shelf.  The inside was also painted gray.

Now all I have to do is tag it and take it to my booth.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Pretty in Black

Back in the summer, I purchased this night stand at an auction.  It was missing a knob and was in need of some repair.

008 - Copy

It sat in my shed for months waiting for me to decide what to do with it.  It wasn’t until I saw Kim’s table make-over at Savvy Southern Style that gave me the inspiration I needed……I painted it black!

015

It was funny the day I started painting it, I received a call from Unique House of Antiques.  They had a potential buyer that was looking for black distressed furniture pieces.

006

I don’t know what it is about black, but I have sold every piece of black furniture that I have put in my little space.  I’m thinking that maybe some of the other pieces of furniture I have should be painted black.

010

I really like the black on this piece and hopefully it will sell quickly too.

Charlie and I attended an estate auction this past weekend.  I can’t wait to show you some of the things we purchased.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

“The Bull”

Hello Everyone!  First, I would like to thank all of you who left me the sweetest and most encouraging comments on my booth in my last post.  You all are my inspiration and have contributed to my success so far.  Secondly, I apologize for the poor quality of my pictures, beforehand.  We have not seen the sun in five days.

While out thrifting a few weeks ago,  I was doing the happy dance right there in the aisle when I found this bull on my way out the door.

023

I have been walking around my house for the last week trying to find a place for him and I think I have finally found a place in my kitchen.

002

I removed the picture that I originally had above the shelves and placed him there.  At first, I wasn’t sure he was going to fit because he is kind of big but he’s the prefect fit.

I did apply Annie Sloan Dark Wax to him to tone down the white.

002

I think my bull needs a name so from here on out I’m calling him “Charlie”!   For weeks, I have been calling it “The Bull”  and now it’s nice to call him something else.

009

I purchased something else that is suppose to be for my booth but I think it too will make it’s way into my home.  Before I show you, I have to make sure it fits first.

As always, thanks for your visit and I hope you all are having a wonderful week.

I would have never thought…..

…… in a million years that my little booth would have done as well as it has.  It has only been a little over a month and I’m working my butt off to restock but I’m as happy as I can be!

On Friday, Charlie and I loaded my SUV up and headed over to restock and I couldn’t get things in my booth fast enough.  People were going through and buying things that were sitting in the aisle.

Today, I thought I would show you around my booth and let you see what has been keeping me so busy.

Below is a picture of my booth when I moved in a little over a month ago and very few things you see are still there!

I had been asked by the Antique Mall Manger if I would consider moving to the front of the store.  After flip flopping back and forth, I’ve made the decision that I would move to the front effective February 1st.   I hope I do as well there as I have in the back.

If I’m MIA for a little while….just bare with me as I still have tons of things to do.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
