Copper Tub…Copy Cat Challenge #3

Happy Halloween Everybody!  Hope you all had a fa-boo-lous weekend.

Debbie at Debbiedoo’s is having her 3rd Magazine Copy Cat Challenge  and I thought I would join in for my 2nd time.  My inspiration for this challenge came from the 2011 Fall catalogue of Through The Country Door.   I love this catalogue. It is full of all kinds of ideas and inspirations.

003

One of many things that I liked in their catalogue were the copper tubs they have.

005

BUT at $129.99 I thought I would make my own cooper tub especially since I already had a tub stashed in my shed.

004

I spray painted the galvanized tub black and then painted it with Folk Art Metallic Antique Copper paint.  Here is my copper tub filled to the rim with fall.

014

I only applied one coat of the Metallic Antique Copper paint because I really liked how a little of the black was showing through.

017

 005

I love the look of the copper tub when the sun is shining through the door.

030

I filled the copper tub with fall things that I had left-over except for the corn which I purchased about a month or so ago.

013

I’m really happy with how my copper tub turned out and I love my price even more…..nothing because I had everything already!

Thanks Debbie for being the gracious host you are!

As always, thanks for stopping by.  I do appreciate all my followers and I always love your comments.

  2. OMG, Gail, I love the paint job. That looks just like the very expensive ones. I am so glad you shared how you achieved the look. One coat is all you need. It does looks good with the undercoat of black showing through. Now I know how to change something I have been wanting to do for a while.

  24. What a genius idea to spray paint a tub to get a copper look. I love them too and finally found one at an antique store for a great price and bought it, but could have had one much sooner if I'd thought of spray painting. Your display looks fantastic and very welcoming.

  36. You did a fabulous job creating a faux copper tub...it is beautiful!! Looks great with the Fall gourds as well. Where has the summer gone? I recently posted my new (antique) copper boiler that my husband purchased for me. It came with relatively few dents considering the age and use these boilers served in everyday living in "the olden days" as they are often referred as. I hope you will visit my blog and view it. I don't want to restore it, I have left it original and I would love to fill it with potted mums when I can. Here in Canada it is past time for those. I have filled it with white blooms for the time being. I have joined your followers list and invite you to join my followers list; as well,I hope you will grab a blog button. Hugs, Gayle
