I love this time of year in blogland! I have never seen so many beautiful homes all decked out for Christmas. You are all so talented, creative and inspiring. Thank you for inviting and sharing your beautiful homes with all of us.
My staircase banister is ready for Christmas and for all those to see who enter through the front door.
As you can see it is a very small banister which makes decorating easy.
I love this garland that I draped on the banister. I have had it for about three years and it still looks great.
Because I don’t have an electric outlet on this side of the wall for lights, I use candles on the stairs.
This is a new addition to my stairs this year. I made three of them. I used a tin pail, Christmas greens and battery operated votive candles.
I placed one on every other step with a little mercury votive candle holder in between.
Last year, I made the sweater stocking using one of my Mom’s sweaters. For those of who are new to my blog, I lost my Mom in March of 2010. You can read about the making of the Keepsake Christmas Stockings here.
I am all done with my Christmas decorating. I still have some shopping left to do and Christmas baking. Maybe by the weekend, I’ll be done with shopping and then next week I can start my baking. Are you all done with the many things to do that Christmas brings?
As always, thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments. They are always appreciated.
Christmas Blessings to you my friends,
Gail

ReplyDeleteOh I wish I was done--but it's all fun stuff ahead! The stair rail looks great and I love the addition of the candles--so warm and inviting. The stocking has me intrigued (since I've not made our new ones yet!). Is that a sort of collar on the top of it? with embroidery? and a button?
ReplyDeleteThe bannister is splendid Gail. The memory stocking is sweet and such a good idea. I have a lot of tasks to do regarding our daughter and college but all the decorating is done.
ReplyDeleteLooks great Gail.. Love that pine cone garland. It looks the real stuff. Thats a wonderful stocking.
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous Gail, now that is a banister!
ReplyDeleteGail I LOVE it!! That first shot could be a Christmas card, and the night shot stunning!! Martina
ReplyDeleteIt looks so beautiful, as always, Gail! Love that stocking you made. What a precious tribute to your Mom!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous banister Gail sweetie, you did a lovely job, wow! I love the night photo, it's so elegant. Merry Christmas! FABBY
ReplyDeleteLooks great Gail. Love greenery, always so perfect for Christmastime. Love the candles you added for a little light too.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Gail! I don't have a banister to decorate anymore since we moved, but I'm okay with that. I love your decorated pails with the battery operated lights ~ that is such a nice touch to go with your garland!
ReplyDeleteGail, your banister id gorgeous. I love the tin pails with the greens and votives. Your little stocking is precious made out of your mom's sweater.

Love your banister and the tin pails are adorable. Just a thought IF you want to do lights. Run them UP the garland to the 2nd floor and use an extension cord to the nearest plug. Just an idea. I have hardly ANY gifts yet:(. OY!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteGail, what a pretty banister! I love the tin pails...what a great idea! That's really creative! And using your mom's sweater for a keepsake stocking is such a sweet touch! I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! love the stockings!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! I like the candles, too. And the stocking idea is a beautiful memory.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous banister, even it if is small! It is really beautiful. And, I love the newer candles. Didn't at first, but it's certainly easier to replace a battery, or new candle light, than a house with memories, so they've grown on me!
ReplyDeleteI am a newer follower and went back to read your post of your mom's items being used for stockings. What a wonderful idea! And they are beautiful. What a great idea to remember your mother - each time you walk by them, touch them, can't think of a better memory!
Wishing you blessings!
Donna
Very pretty and homey looking. Nice job.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas my Friend!

Your banister is done up beautifully. The little candle in the bucket is wonderful and must look so nice at night when all of the lights are down low.
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year in Blogland, also, everyone is so creative!
Hugs, Cindy
It looks very pretty; I love the stocking, what a good idea. Being new to Blogland it is so exciting being able to see real homes decorated for Christmas. Not being the most creative person, I can still pick up on some ideas that I could probably do a reasonable copy of!!
ReplyDeleteGail, your banister looks gorgeous! I love the "whispiness" of your garland ... and, the candles on the stairs is perfection! What a beautiful and welcoming entrance!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it! So pretty! What a beautiful staircase!
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty. I really love the little votives in the buckets!

ReplyDeleteYou have done a beautiful job here...love the candles and little pots!!

dare I admit that we haven't even put up our tree yet...we meant to last weekend. I'm not really pushing it b/c my 1 yr old is just starting to stand alone, and I'm afraid she'll try to use the tree for support...and it will end up on her. I love your banister..esp the buckets w the greenery and lights..,.but it all looks lovely together.
ReplyDeleteHi Gail,
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful stairway. I think the candles on the steps are so pretty and add such a nice touch. The stocking made from your Mom's sweater is so sweet.
hugs
Sissie

ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for stopping by my blog, I really appreciate it!

Hi Gail, I have a bannister just like yours...it has a landing with a wall for the other half. Love the way you added the little pails with greens and lights - so cute. And your mantel shelf in the previous post is gorgeous - love the clock!!! Linda
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures by the way. With the candles going down it, it looks quite romantic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Gail! I do not have a fence decoration, because we are moving, but I am okay with that. I love lamp decorated with battery-powered bucket ~ is such a nice touch to your wreath!
