I’m still at it; moving things around and changing things up! Now that the dining room is done, I have moved into the kitchen. (To see the changes I have made in the dining room you can go here. ) For now, I have boxed up all my copper pieces that I had displayed on the open shelving in the kitchen. I have replaced it with white ironstone and silver pieces that I picked up here and there. Take a look……
Most of the things I used were things I already had.
The tea pot was a recent purchase made at The Christmas Shoppe. I love that store! I paid $5.99 for it.
The soup tureen was a deal….I paid $5.00 for it several months ago at one of our local Flea Markets.
The grater you see was my grandmother’s, then my mom’s and now it’s mine. I placed a little electric candle inside it. It gives off the neatest glow at night.
Those are faux apples in that wire basket. Don’t they look real? I can’t wait for my grandsons to come and ask me to peel them one…aren’t they in for a surprise.
I have to tell you, I really like this neutral color theme I have right now. It makes everything seem so much lighter and brighter. I have one more thing on my list of “Things To Do” in the kitchen and that is to build a farm table…..I’m waiting patiently for that because I need hubby’s help.
As always, thanks for visiting and for your sweet comments. They always make my day.
Gail

Wonderful once again. I love what you put in the wire cloche...stealing that idea...also that piece of furniture under the shelving is fabulous!!...I've been a neutral girl forever...I use colors in the girls rooms, but for myself, I always go back to the whites and neutrals...can't wait to see your farm table...I've been asking my hubby to make a small farm sewing desk/table for me...we'll see...haha...have a nice night..xo, Mariaelena
ReplyDeleteYou always do such a great job accessorizing! Can't wait to see the farm table!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, creative, love it, Gail. You have such a talent for vignettes.
ReplyDeleteHi Gail, I am delighted to find your blog. Love what you have done. I have been happily collecting odd pieces of ironstone for a long time now and adore it. I have always loved plain white dishes. Putting the candle in the grater was such a special touch especially with the history behind it. Happy WW xo
ReplyDeletePerfection once again Gail, I love it!! Can't wait to see the table!
ReplyDeleteYour shelves look beautiful, Gail! I love how you've lightened your accessories up a bit, too. The light under the grater is such a fun idea ... and, your silver pieces look lovely layered in, as well. Such great elements ... love the pops of green, too!
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a pretty vignette, I love it. Thanks alot for sharing the ideas!! Sue
ReplyDeleteGreat rustic look combined with your ironstone. Great prices for those pieces, too!
ReplyDeleteGail, this is so beautiful and I want shelves and a cabinet just like yours in my kitchen! I just pinned this to my boards. Love it.

The ironstone and silver mix is wonderful Gail.
ReplyDeleteMy your kitchen is similar to mine.
ReplyDeleteI have an empty space on the wall beside where my cupboards end.
That's a great idea to put shelves there.
The rooster jar on your top shelf is the same as mine.
I picked up two at Homesense one year.
I store candies that are in season in them.
Thanks for all the creative ideas. Love it all.
Your shelves and the whole area are so beautifully decorated. Lots of interest too. I have two shelves at the end of our cupboards too, and I decorate them seasonally. I'm certainly taking away a few bits of inspiration, including the basket on its side with the lovely teapot, and the grater too. Wishing you a great week!
ReplyDeleteOpen shelving has always been something that I adore and I so want some in my kitchen when we remodel! You have done a lovely job decorating the shelves with all your pretties. The grater lite is so darling!
ReplyDeleteI love it, Gail! First, I love open shelving like this in a kitchen. I love the white pieces; I love decorating with mine, too. Great candleholders and I love the boxwood balls on them. Such a great look. I've gone this route decorating since we moved {perfect opportunity to do so} and I'm so happy with it. I had a lot of color in our old house and really wanted to change it for at least a year, so the move came at a good time.
ReplyDeleteI'm never completely happy with the vignettes I put together, but yours always look perfect. I love this one and the mix of the white with the bright green apples. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIs that The Christmas Tree Shop? I have been to one in Cape Cod, love it wish we had one here in MIchigan, Love the way you put all that together!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the layers and all of the great textures! Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo nice visiting with you tonight!
Looks great, Gail!

(I tried the spray water bottle to distress paint today. Worked good)
I just love it. I'm trying to lighten up here, too. I think I'll need to visit some thrift stores. Caught a peek of white cabinets that look wonderful, too.
ReplyDeleteWow, Gail, you're going to build a farm table?! You are still in a very creative vein, aren't you! Good for you, I love seeing everything that you put together. And today's vignettes are fabulous, I love them all. I, too, enjoy the ironstone and silver, interlaced with vintage items. So fun and interesting, I think.

ReplyDeleteLove the shelves thanks for sharing, I'm adding shelves too on the wall in the kitchen but I have to wait on my husband to do it, I'd be afraid I wouldn't secure them enough and we would hear a crash soon after .lol

I really love your open shelving and how you displayed things on it. I'm in love with your old grater turned candle holder too! What a neat idea. I noticed right away. I love your mix of old wood, white ironstone and silver. So cottagey farmhouse. I'm a big fan of neutral interiors right now myself.
