Hello Everyone! The weather has been perfect here the last couple of days and it felt so good to be outside. I’ve been busy working on the front porch power washing, scrubbing furniture, washing windows and planting flowers.
This year, I changed things up on the front porch. Having a son and son-in-law in the Army, I went with a more patriotic theme.
I planted a lot of red geraniums.
I don’t think I’ve shown you this wire wall planter.
It was a flea market purchase a few weeks ago. I fell in love with it!
Charlie and I just bought this porch swing yesterday. It is an Amish built. We need to find the ceiling studs to mount it. My plans are to paint it white but I have to wait at least a month before I can paint it. We were told the wood needs to cure.
For now, I placed my coca cola crate wagon on the front porch. I planted lavender and marigolds in it.
This is the other side of the porch. All the Boston Ferns you see were purchased at Lowes for $7.50 a piece. They are huge and so healthy looking.
A table top vignette. I used an old galvanized watering can and planted a red geranium and a snowstorm giant snowflake inside it.
I hung vintage Americana buntings on the porch railings.
Other than a few little things, I’m just about done with the front porch.
As always, thanks for your visit and for your sweet comments. They always make my day!
Gail

Oh Gail, your front porch is beautiful! If mine looked like that, I'd never want to sit indoors. I love the patriotic accents and there's something about the wreath on your door...I think it's the way the flag is swagged. It's great!
ReplyDeleteYes Gail your porch is stunning. I love all the red geraniums.Love the Hanging baskets , Wow I hope our Lowes up in Canada sells them for the same. But I would not count on it. The wreathe on your door is very different. I hope you will share how it was made. No porch on this house so the back deck will get all gussied up as my dh calls it.
ReplyDeleteI hit the comment button and was not finished. Your bench will look fantastic once it is painted and hung. That wire basket that hangs from your home is also very stunning. I see you hang it with a command strip. What a great idea. No holes in the siding. It all looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Gail. I don't think I've visited before, and I'm glad I did. I love all things patriotic, so your post at Savvy Southern immediately caught my eye. All lovely. I think I've heard that during previous wars when families had dear ones serving there was a flag or other indicator they placed out front somewhere to let others know--I wish you could do that, so others could say thanks to them and to YOU for their service to our country. God bless them. I'm following you now; I hope you'll stop by and visit too. ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteGail, I love your front porch and your home. I don't think I have see the outside before. Great old wire planter. Would love to find something like that. It will be so nice to enjoy that swing.
ReplyDeleteLove your front porch, it really looks great. I'm so envious, I had a huge farmers porch in Maine that I loved to decorate, but now in Florida, no porch :(
ReplyDeleteYour home is so gorgeous, both inside and out! Can I come live at your house??
ReplyDeleteI love the flag draped wreath on the door. Did you make it or did you buy it that way? If you made it will you make a tutorial for it?

ReplyDeleteOK, OK, I was blond until it turned gray, and thank you Lord, I love the natural colors You've blessed me with all of my life - but this is one of those blond jokes - but real -
ReplyDeleteI got so excited when I saw the 'Command Hooks' by 3M holding up some of your planters on the front porch. So, I told my Sweetie, 'Oh my gosh, I just saw a way to hang things for decorating on the porch and in the court yard!' 'How' he asked? 'The Command Hooks I use for the huge inside wreath at Christmas!!' "Really? They'll even stick to stucco?'
Excitement - squished.
Your porch looks really great, by the way!
Blessings,
Donna

Your porch looks fabulous! It reminds me a lot of my own porch (without your pretty decorations). I too have wicker and Lowe's ferns! I too have a hand-built swing that I painted white. It was built by the sweetest elderly man who was a member of my church but sadly we lost him quite a few years back. I love my porch and my swing...I was out there just this afternoon going over the lesson I have to teach in Sunday School tomorrow. The grandkids and I love to sit and swing and read. What's a southern home without a front porch???? Oh, and I do so love your screen door:)
ReplyDeleteWill you come and decorate my front porch? Please...
ReplyDeleteNice home architectural design with a lovely door. Pin it for you! :)

ReplyDeleteGail, Thanks for leaving me such a lovely comment about my glider. You wouldn't believe how many times we stopped and asked if someone wanted to sell theirs but it was always no until we came across this one. It was in pretty bad shape but I REALLY wanted me. Your porch is so inviting! I have stopped by several times already and looked at your wreath. It's so lovely and unique! Blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteGail, Your home is beautiful and I love your big porch. The wicker, swing, plants...everything is lovely. Hugs, Sherry

Beautiful work, Gail. However I wanted to tell you that your US flag is displayed backwards. The blue star field should be to the audience's left.
