Furnitures Painted and Auction Finds

Hello everyone!  It’s been a while since my last post.  I’m finding it hard to keep up with blog postings and keeping my booth stocked with inventory.  If any of you could give me some helpful advice on how to manage both I would love to hear it.

Because I was in need of more inventory for my booth, Charlie took off from work on Wednesday and we went to an auction.   I was the winning bidder on some great finds.   Some of my purchases I have already cleaned up, painted and have put them in my booth.

I bought the little green table, below, at the auction.  Because I loved the color of the table, I just gave it a good scrub down.  I also purchased the yellow vintage kitchen scale.

Another awesome purchase I made was this vintage rocking chair.

Again, because I love the color that was already on the rocker,  I just gave it a good scrub down.  It was rather dirty!   I have to let you in on a little secret, it would not break my heart if it doesn’t sell!  I would love to bring it back home.

I also bought the primitive rocker, below, at the auction.   Now, I did paint this rocker.  Because black really sells in my booth, I chose to paint it black.

In my last post, I shared with you furniture pieces below that I was going to paint.

Well, I painted them and they too are already in my booth.

When I left my booth today, this is what it looked like.

I have a few more auction pieces below that I bought and hopefully this weekend I will get a chance to work on them.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. That bookcase turned out great, Gail! Love that table shape and color, too. I love when I can find something that doesn't need anything done to it except a good cleaning. Plus, it saves me some time to work on something that really could use a refresh!

  12. I'd say you are managing blog & booth quite well. You keep us informed, show us your photos and manage to stock and paint PDF (pretty darn fast).

  13. So far you seem to be doing fine. I would imagine most people are like me, I enjoy your posts but I don't count how often you are posting. I just smile when I see one. So, whether it's everyday or once a week, don't worry about it. Just do what you can and your readers are here when you do get to post. :)

I wish I had taken my own advice. I could not keep up with my booth and blog, so blogging had to go. Eventually I became so overwhelmed by trying to balance my life and my booth, I had to close my booth too. It was causing so much anxiety trying to find stuff for good prices and fix them and put them in the booth I was at a point that I could never relax at home. I miss my booth a lot and keep trying to think of a way I could reopen it and balance my time while keeping my anxiety down. So, if you have advice on that, I'd love to hear it. ;)

On the upside....my stuff sold like hotcakes. :)

  14. You have found some wonderful pieces of furniture. You have no doubt become a whizz with the paintbrush these days. Your black painted furniture is GORGEOUS!!! And the turquoise rocker is adorable, it would fit in my house, too. In fact I have a sweet rocking chair that my hubby gave me for my first mother's day after marrying him, (I already had two kids and he had too also). It is such a special piece that I want to paint it the right colour, so I'm hemming and hawing over it.
I have no advise on how to do both, except when you do end up with a few extra hours, if that ever happens, you could do one or two extras that you post a few days later. If my sewing business ever takes off, that is the only way that I will be able to do both.
Have a wonderful weekend, hugs, Cindy

  17. Wow, you have some knock out pieces! Don't have a clue how you're doing so much but I wish I had your energy. :) The black pieces are favorites of mine, however, that rocker is adorable! Not quite sure how you can sell
    it. :)

  26. Gail everything looks great, I am starting my own antique booth in Wisconsin beginning of Sept (eek super excited but a total novice) I know you have stated a few times that black is your best seller, do you have a favorite brand of paint do you use chalk paint, latex paint, milk paint? (or all of the above) I wanted to paint a few pieces and would love to hear your feedback!
