Ghost for the Haunted Ghost Walk

Hello Everyone!  It’s count down time for the big Birthday/Halloween Party for our twin grandsons.  The party is scheduled for this coming Saturday.  They have planned all kinds of fun Halloween kids games, hay rides, and a bon fire with lots of food.  Charlie and I are putting the finishing touches on the creative “scary” things that we have made for the haunted ghost walk that is also planned to take place in the woods behind their house.

My attempt at making “scary” ghost turned out to be anything but scary I think!  In fact, I think they look more like angels than ghosts.

007

I made six of them using a tomato cage, a pumpkin, plastic drop cloth and a round plastic table cover for each one.

001

I connected them so that they are circling around a bonfire made of logs with lights thrown on top.

008

Here’s what they look like at night.

035

I placed a flashlight under each one so that they will glow.

011

So tell me, do you think they look like ghosts or angels?

035

This is going to be a busy week as we start clearing out the woods and setting up for this haunted ghost walk.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

An Estate Sale

Charlie and I have been to quite a few estate auctions through the years but we had never been to an estate sale until this past Friday.   When we arrived a little early, there were a few people there already.  I overheard a couple of people from the neighborhood talking about what a wonderful man he was and how sad they were that he had passed away.

Upon entering his home, I started to look around and began to feel sad myself.  I didn’t even know this man but my heart ached that all of his personal things were literally just thrown everywhere.  And when I say everything, I mean everything…..it truly was a mess!   Charlie caught up with me inside the home and I quietly shared with him how I was feeling and asked him if he was ready to go.  He said he was but there was one thing outside that he was interested in.  It was a set of car ramps.  When we were leaving, I noticed these four wicker plate chargers that were sitting in a box all by themselves.

012

Of course, I picked them up and thought to myself….maybe I was meant to buy them because they were the only thing that didn’t seem tarnished.

008

I know that many of you have been to estate sales.   Are they like that in your area?   I don’t know if they are all like that here or if it just happened to be this particular company that was doing the estate sale.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

A Flea Market Dress Form Find

Hello Everyone!  It’s hard to believe that it’s been a week since my last post.  We’ve been busy this past week working in the yard, weeding, trimming trees, sewing grass seed…all the fun stuff that’s not really blog worthy.  We’ve also been helping my son and daughter-in-law with the re-model of their power room.

Today, I did manage to sneak in a craft that I’ve been wanting to do.  A  few weeks ago, I purchased this pitiful decoupage dress form from a local flea market in our area knowing that I would transform it.

002

I recovered the dress form with scrapbook paper.  I distressed the paper with distressed ink and Mod Podged it on the dress form.  I also added a finial on top.  It was missing one on top and I couldn’t believe that I had one that actually fit.

015

I used a candle holder for a new base since the original base was really wobbly.

011

I also added a string of faux pearls to it.  For now, I have it sitting in my daughter’s room.

012

I can’t wait for her to see it!  She’s suppose to be coming home next weekend for a visit.

020

She loves when I add things to her room.

As always, thanks for stopping by and your lovely comments.

Home Sweet Home an Autumn Welcome

Hello everyone and welcome to our home.  I have finished feathering our nest for Fall!   I really like less is more in my Fall decorating this year.   I kept things simple in some cases by just adding a pumpkin here and a pumpkin there.  043

013

I bought most of the real pumpkins at one of our local farmer’s market stands.  I think this pumpkin is the prettiest shade of orange.

018

I also bought the gourds at the same local farmer’s market stand.

042

I changed the floral arrangement in the rain boots for the fall season.

070

In the dining room, I only added little touches of Fall.

006

On the buffet, I placed fabric pumpkins that I made in the champagne bucket.

001

And on the dining room table, I kept the dried hydrangeas and added faux white pumpkins.

037

034

In the kitchen,  I placed a Fall wreath that I made many years ago on the pantry door.  That was long before my blogging days.  I still love this wreath!

001

The gathering basket on the farm table in the kitchen says that Fall has arrived here.

051

009

I only added a few Fall touches to the open shelving in the kitchen.

064

066

I added a faux white pumpkin to the vintage scale.

065

And I draped a “Give Thanks” tea-towel, that I had made, over the side of the wooden box.

014

I placed a white Welcome pumpkin to the the top of trash bin cabinet.

052

In the family room, as most of you have seen, my Fall mantel shelf.

007

056

063

I don’t know what it is about this pumpkin because it is not very pretty…..but I just had to get another one this year.

010

059

Inside the cloche, I placed a fabric pumpkin that I made and added some fall leaves.  I also added something that is very special and dear to me,  my grandmother’s rosary which is laying on top of the pumpkin.

021

Now that I’m done with Fall decorating, I’m already thinking about Christmas!

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Autumn Gathering Basket and Another Vintage Scale

Today was my lucky day!  I found another vintage scale to add to my collection.

005

It is heavy for a small scale!  For now, I placed it inside my gathering basket that is sitting on the kitchen table and dressed it up for Autumn.

018

On one side of the scale, I placed a bird’s nest and put a pumpkin inside of the nest.   All of the bird nests that I have, are ones that have fallen from trees in our yard.  On the other side, I added a burlap wrapped candle.  I just realized something….I forgot to add the Autumn tag that I made for the candle….ooops.

021

I draped a Harvest tea-towel that I made over the side of the basket.  I also added another little basket inside and filled it with linen napkins and pumpkins.

012

I love the size of my gathering basket….it can hold a lot of stuff!

019

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

This Little Corner of Mine…..

…..in the living room where I keep my grandsons’ play things looked like this yesterday.  002

Well today it looks like this!

015

I brought in a china cabinet that had been sitting in the garage that Charlie and I purchased several months ago.  I’m using it to house some of our grandsons’ toys, books and games.

009

And also an old family chest for all of their match box cars.  Let me tell you, that chest is full!

020

I surprised myself in that I was able to fit just about everything in the china cabinet and the chest.  That is, after I sorted through all of their play things.   I even had room on top for a few of my things!

011

Now when I’m sitting on the couch, I’m looking at this.

016

Instead of this!

002

Much better don’t you think?

016

Now, I need to organize/clean the garage.  Between their toys and my “stuff” we have taken over the garage!!  Poor Charlie hardly has room to park his truck in there…and it’s an over-sized two car garage.

For those of you who live in the Southern Maryland area, I’ve listed some items for sale.  You can check them out by clicking on the Items for Sale tab under my blog header.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.
