Sending Christmas Cheer To Our Soldiers

Our son, Jordan, is with the US Army in Afghanistan.  He is serving at a remote forward operating base with 30 other US soldiers.  We have sent Jordan packages every few weeks containing various items that he may not be able to get over there.

Now that it is Christmas time, we wanted to send a little something to his fellow soldiers.  So, I made “soldier stockings”.  We bought thirty pairs of warm weather thermal socks and stuffed them with various small items.  I wrote them a little note of our thanks and tied the “stockings” with a bow.

Hopefully they will receive our package by Christmas time so Jordan can play Santa and distribute them to all of his fellow soldiers.

Thanks for stopping by and my Blessings to you and your family this Christmas season.

  3. My brother served in Afghanistan 5 Christmases ago and still talks about all the lovely little things (like this) that his troop got at Christmas time. Such a simple, sweet gesture that means the world to those heroes!

  4. God bless your son and all his fellow soldiers! If not for them, we wouldn't be able to celebrate holidays such as Christmas. Please tell him thank you and Godspeed from our family!

  6. Hi Gail,
What a lovely idea, I will have to ask my nephew if he knows your son. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he did?

  7. What sweet and thoughtful gifts. I know they will be well received and very grateful. I agree with the other -- God bless these brave men (you son looks so young). My 20 year old son is considering going into the military service and, well honestly, I'm more than a little nervous about it.

  8. That was very thoughtful of you. I don't think most people know the hardships and circumstances that these young men face. Thank you for caring.

  9. What a great idea! I have to admit I got a bit teary-eyed when I read this. A soldier is such a special being, he who sacrifices being with his family to protect the ones he loves. God Bless them!

  11. I am so glad to find and follow your blog. I love your home and all it's beautiful touches, but more than that I see your heart for others...God bless your son and keep him safe. I also think being a grandmother is the most wonderful job I've ever had! Thank you for sharing. I'd be honored if you would stop by my blog sometime. Merry Christmas.
