Happy Spring Everybody! How was your weekend? We didn’t get the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful spring like weather. Instead, we spent most of our weekend inside or at Lowes. We were planning and measuring for our powder bathroom renovation and adding picture frame wainscoting to our downstairs living space.
I love the look of picture frame wainscoting and have wanted to add it to our downstairs. First Charlie performed the math calculations to properly size and space the pieces. Then we began installing it in the hallway and kitchen. Below are pictures of the hallway before adding picture frame wainscoting.

Charlie did an awesome job on the stair cuts. Now that required some math and I’m not good at math!

Before we start putting picture frame wainscoting in the living room, I NEED to convince my sweet, sweet husband that we should replace the wood stove below…….
with this. Isn’t it gorgeous! Wish me LOTS of luck on convincing him on this. He loves his woodstove!

Looks great Gail, my hubby did ours too but I am seriously considering painting the whole wall, including the chair rail, and picture frames because I am tired of the look. What do you think? My hubby also built a mantle and all and we put in an electric fire place in our bedroom. I doesn't look like a bought one because he "customized" it. Maybe if you get your hubby to build you one, he wouldn't mind so much getting rid of his stove? Just a thought...

ReplyDeleteThat looks great, Gail! Our house has no architectural details, except for crown molding we added to our living room, so I love to see these touches. Did you have the bottom portion of your wall white before or did you paint it white for this project?

I love architectural details and yours looks great. I'm with you on the fireplace vs woodstove. However, I sometimes give up what I want in favor of what hubby wants. He's very generous and lets me do what I want so I try to remember he lives here too!

The picture frames add just the right amount of detail in your hallway. It looks beautiful! I have to say though, I love your woodstove! (Sorry!) It looks so nice the way you have it decorated.
