French Enamel and Ironstone Milk Paint

It’s the calm before the storm….at least that’s what the weatherman is saying!   The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in our area with heavy snow today.   I’m okay with getting snowed in for a day or so.  I have a lot of furniture pieces that are in dire need of a makeover, that I can work on in the garage, like this piece that I recently finished.

001

This is what it looked like before.

002

I painted it with Miss Mustard Seed (MMS) milk paint.   I used French enamel milk paint on the base and ironstone milk paint on the drawer and door front.

007

I left the top stained and added chicken wire to the door fronts.

007

I have already taken it to my booth in hopes that it finds a new home.

You know as I type this I’m thinking that maybe I won’t spend my day out in the garage working…..maybe I’ll spend my day with Charlie.  His office is closed today so he’ll be home!  Maybe we can spend the day watching movies and playing Yahtzee!

As always thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Gail

  5. Pretty colors, Gail! It looks like a great size piece, too. Sounds like a good plan for the day. My husband is working from home today {which I'm glad he won't be out driving in our snow}, but maybe he can take a little break for a movie.

  7. Wow! What difference paint makes. I love the chicken wire doors.
It's snowing like crazy here. I think we are getting hammered again. It's been snowing all morning and it's not going to stop till morning. I don't mind the snow it's the wind that makes it no fun.

  12. Hi Gail,
Your painted pieces are beautiful (went back and saw the cute red table too). I've got a few furniture pieces I need to get busy on but I always struggle with a color choice when it comes to something I want to resell. Is there a color that you find that is always a good seller? Inquiring minds want to know :)

  13. That is a really nice piece now, very "farm-ie" looking. I'm sure it will sell now. I hope your snow-day was fun and relaxing. My husband's office is never closed due to inclement weather, too bad, I would love a day to relax and do nothing with my sweet hubby.
    Hugs, Cindy

  16. Hi Gail!! Hope you all are staying safe and warm up there! We are having crazy cold here in Dallas too, and our daughter is even forecast to get snow all the way down at UT in Austin. I love seeing your projects again, they always inspire :)
