Fall Welcome!

Hello Everyone! I added the finishing fall touches to my front porch today.  I gathered a few leaves that had fallen from one of our trees and scattered them on the porch.

014

I didn’t use corn stalks or straw like I have done in past years.  However, I placed mums in the urns as I have always done.   I bought the mums at Lowes a couple of weeks ago and I’m surprised that they’re not yet in full bloom.

016

This year, I added a little ambiance to the front porch with lanterns.  I placed an orange mesh tin with a string of lights inside the lanterns.  It’s really pretty at night.

013

It gives just enough glow.

The wire planter hanging on the front porch is spruced up with some sunflowers and a Harvest Home sign that I made.

002

My favorite spot on the front porch!

006

I have been enjoying the cool mornings swinging in my swing.  I still haven’t made that Pumpkin Spice Latte that I mentioned which you can read about here.  Maybe this weekend I will make it!

014

As always, thanks for stopping by and your sweet comments!  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and Happy Fall.

Items for Sale

Over the last few months many of you know that I had been busy preparing for a Fall show.  After a lot of soul searching, I decided that I did not want to get back into doing shows again.  Years ago, I did them and they were a lot of work!  Instead, I have been pursuing a dream of mine to rent a booth at an antique mall/shop.  I have inquired at several different places and unfortunately I am on their waiting list.  I received a phone call this morning from one that I was so hoping to rent from and I was #30 on their waiting list.  So, it looks like it could be a while but I will continue to pursue my dream and hopefully something will become available.

With all that being said, I have decided that until an antique mall/shop booth becomes available, I will sell locally (Southern Maryland area) through my blog.  I have created an “Items for Sale” tab under my blog header.  I will list the items for sale and if you’re interest in purchasing, you can contact me by either commenting or emailing.

Hopefully in the next couple of days, I will start listing some of the items for sale.  Until then, thanks for visiting and letting me share my dreams with all of you.  It means a lot!!

Potting Bench for Fall

Hello Everyone!  Over the weekend, I spent most of my time fall decorating outside between my place and my grandsons.   With the help of my youngest grandson (who is three), we decorated the potting bench for fall.

023

He was a big help helping Grandma plant all her fall plants.

013

015

012

Occasionally he would run into the garage and help Pa Pa who was busy with the twins making a surprise for their Mommy.

005

They love working with Pa Pa in the garage.

001

I’ll share with you in another post what they made for their Mommy!

011

I’m done with fall decorating outside of my place.  My son and daughter-in-law are having a Halloween/birthday party in four weeks for the twins .  The twins wants to have a haunted walk in the woods at their place.  So the next few weeks, I’m going to be busy making “spooky” things for this haunted walk.  I have so many ideas that I have pinned from Pinterest.  I’m actually excited to get started on some of them.  It’s funny because I have never really been much of a Halloween fan.

As always, thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments.  I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Swing into Fall

Hello Everyone!  I love swinging on a swing and I’m hoping now that the weather is cooler that I will be able to enjoy my front porch swing.   It was too darn hot to enjoy swinging on it as often as I would have liked this summer!

006

For the fall, I removed my summer pillows and replaced them with some new ones I made.  I used placemats that I found at HomeGood Store to make the pillows.

Now that the evenings are cooler, I need to make that Pumpkin Spice Latte on my recipe board pinned on Pinterest and enjoy a cup of it swinging in my swing.

As always, thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

This Old Rusty Bike

Through the years, Charlie and I have gone to quite a few auctions.  Some have been been jam packed with wonderful treasures to be had and some not.   Not once in all the years that we have gone has he ever questioned why I would want to bid on something.  But, he did question why on this old rusty bike.

018

He just couldn’t understand why I fell in love with this rusty perfection.

011

Which by the way, had the cutest bike basket attached.

013

And when I was the winning bidder of $20, he just shook his head, smiled at me and loaded it on the back of the truck.

010

To this day, he has yet to say anything about this old rusty bike that now sits in one of my flower beds.

As always, thanks for stopping by and your sweet comments.  Hope you all are having a wonderful week and enjoying this beautiful weather.

Fall Touches on the Mantel Shelf

Hello Everyone!  The weather here in Southern Maryland this past week has been absolutely gorgeous!!  I was finding it hard to spend time inside because of it but I did manage to do a little fall decorating inside.  I finally finished tweaking the mantel shelf in the living room this morning.

 008

Each year and with every season I try and change things up on the mantel shelf.   This year for fall, I flanked each end of the mantel shelf with  black urns and made faux eucalyptus swags.   In this urn, I placed a white pumpkin with berries.

010

And on the other end, I placed faux wheat with berries in the urn.

011

 007

The weather forecast for the next couple days is rain so I’ll be working inside adding more fall touches.

007

As always, thanks for stopping by and your sweet comments.  I hope you all have a wonderful week.

A New Table and a Pottery Barn Knock Off

Hello Everyone!  Have I told you how wonderful my husband is….I know I have I just wanted to tell you again.  Look at what he made for me.

003

I asked him if he would make a table for our hallway down stairs.  I told him my ideas and he made me one.  I was unable to find one that was narrow enough to fit.  Of course after he finished it, I started painting it with white milk paint and heavily distressed it.   It’s now in our hallway.

023

I think he did an awesome job….I love it and it’s the perfect fit!

028

Did you happen to notice the big clock face?  How can you miss it right.   I’m calling that my Pottery Barn knock off.   I was browsing their web-site the other day and they had a painted clock face listed for $299!  I thought to myself….I can make that.

I found a clock face graphic that I had and for the life of me I can’t remember where I got it from.  I went to Staples and had them enlarge it to the size that I needed.

003

I used a tabletop that was in the shed.  I removed the hardware and painted it black.

002

I trimmed the excess paper and then applied Mod Podge to the front of the tabletop and placed the clock face on.   After the Mod Podge dried, I distress the front of it with Distress Ink.

029

Do you know how much mine cost to make…..$3.50 and that was Staples fee for enlarging it!

028

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Fabric Pumpkins

I can actually say that I have started my fall decorating.  I’ve been making fabric pumpkins for my upcoming fall show and I made myself a set to keep.  I placed my pumpkins on the side table in the dining room.

001

I placed the larger one inside a champagne bucket and the smaller one is sitting inside a little silver dish.

003

009

Do you think I have enough pumpkins?

As always, thanks for stopping by and hope you all have wonderful week.

Another Vintage Scale To Add To My Collection

Happy Thursday everyone!  While cleaning this morning I realized that I haven’t shared my new vintage scale that I bought at an auction.

010

Charlie and I attended an auction a few weeks ago and it was the biggest auction I have ever been too.  They had four auctions going on at the same time.  Three of them were held outside in different fields and each field had a different starting bid.  The auctioneers ride in a golf cart and go up and down the rows of merchandise.  At first it was a learning experience for me and I wasn’t sure I really liked it.  You had to bid quickly or you would lose out, since the items moved very fast.  After losing out on a couple of things that I really wanted, it didn’t take me long to get the hang of it.   I almost lost out on this scale because someone had moved it from one row to another row which you’re not suppose to do.  But lucky for me, I found it and stayed right there until the auctioneer reached us on his golf cart.   Needless to say, it was a bidding war at first but I won!  I ended up paying $50 for it.

008

I now have three scales and each one is different.  I placed this one on the open shelving in my kitchen.

034 - Copy

And I have this little postage scale in the kitchen also.

023

014

I did purchase other things at this auction.  I have been working on some of the furniture pieces that I bought and I’ll be sharing all of that soon.

008

I’m hoping we can plan another trip back to this auction again sometime next month.  Next time around I’ll know how it works!

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
