Through the years, Charlie and I have gone to quite a few auctions. Some have been been jam packed with wonderful treasures to be had and some not. Not once in all the years that we have gone has he ever questioned why I would want to bid on something. But, he did question why on this old rusty bike.
He just couldn’t understand why I fell in love with this rusty perfection.
Which by the way, had the cutest bike basket attached.
And when I was the winning bidder of $20, he just shook his head, smiled at me and loaded it on the back of the truck.
To this day, he has yet to say anything about this old rusty bike that now sits in one of my flower beds.
As always, thanks for stopping by and your sweet comments. Hope you all are having a wonderful week and enjoying this beautiful weather.
Gail

Good man! : ) He knows how to keep the peace! My husband ~ he would have gone on about it {and not in a complimentary way}. But this is the same man who described the things in my Etsy to a friend as "knick knacks".
ReplyDeleteOld bikes are great garden accents. I bought mine at an auction a few years back, painted it white, and put in one of my flower beds. Fortunately, my hubby 'gets it'.
ReplyDeleteLove the old bike Gail I have been looking for one for a year now And can't seem to find one looks so cute the way you have it decorated for fall.

ReplyDeleteI have my childhood bike in my summer garden. Never thought of fall!-Thank you for the inspiration, you did a terrific job decorating it. Maybe the hubby will someday appreciate how cute it really looks!!!

The bike adds such a vintage feel to you flowerbed. I love the basket filled with flowers & gourds!
ReplyDeleteLove that old bike in your garden! I have one in my rose garden that my daughter dug out of the dirt in her grove. It is really rusty and I love it. I attached a basket and after seeing yours I'm going to fill it with gourds for fall.
ReplyDeleteOh Gail I can see why you fell in love with that bike! It looks fabulous in your garden and I love the Fall additions you added to it!
ReplyDeleteThis Is Absolutely Adorable Gail!! Very Creative!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteRight now my husband is putting 2 shelves in my pantry....sweet yes, but he doesn't get it. His response, get rid of the junk you have....NOooooooo, build me a couple of shelves!!
ReplyDeleteThey don't get it, but in his heart, he knows that bike is cute as all get out!!
Very cute. Men!
ReplyDeleteGail, what a cute bike! I would love to add one under the tree in the back yard!! I love how you put all of the fall accents in the basket. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage bike with the basket...so cute!! I started looking for one this past summer, but haven't come found one for a good price yet. Lucky for me, when I told my hubby that I wanted one for the flower bed...he liked the idea and has been helping me look.

I want to get inside Charlie's head and find out what he's thinking. It might shed some light on all of man kind, at least the ones that tolerate their wives odd purchases.

I love the rust, and the color on that bike. Just perfect for Fall.
ReplyDeleteOh it's so cute all decorated up and sitting in your flower bed! I would love to get one of these and do the same thing with it.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Maybe your husband hasn't said anything about the bike because he secretly thinks it looks great now that you've got it set up so pretty! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou got the bike and the basket too? A really great price on it Gail and I do love the pumpkin right along side if it!

What's better than an old rusty bike? An old rusty RED bike. I love it.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Gail, I have an old bike also and I love it! Yours looks so cute decked out for Fall. I was thinking I might bring mine around front and fill with some pumpkins and squash soon.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
I love the style of your rusty red bike and the basket is a treasure! I have a bike I got off the side of the road but it's not as cool and old. Mine has a metal basket though, and it sits on my patio holding flowers. Glad you were able to score this and that your husband was a good sport and hauled it home for you!
ReplyDeleteLiz
This is so cute, Gail, and I know you're having fun with it. Love it with its fall decor.

A rusty old bike with all its parts for only $20?! Lucky you! It is perfect sitting in your garden.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! It looks like the bike I learned to ride on!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet bike and it looks wonderful all decked out for fall! I totally understand. I have an old rusty red tricycle that sat on my stoop last Christmas with a bike stuffed Santa riding on it and candy canes sitting in a little stocking hanging off the handlebars. I also have an old rusty wagon that I painted pink and last year, it was over-flowing with flowers and sweet potato vine! I love adding "junk" to the landscape. Little surprises are always fun! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteI would have scarfed up that bike too. Perfect for the garden and I love what you did to it for fall.
ReplyDeleteI just love your delightful use of a tattered treasure! There's no need to worry about the elements fading this sweet reminder of childhood.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely...You are so clever...So very creative!
Blessings,
Carolynn
I love your bicycle fall scape. So lovely.
