Adding to My Collection

Hello Everyone!  It’s been a while since my last post.  Charlie and I have been busy hitting some indoor yard sales and local auctions this past week and a half.   My booth inventory was looking rather sparse but now I have a few pieces to work on.

I buy certain things to restock my booth, but at times I want to keep them for myself and not sell them.  Charlie has told me jokingly if I keep something I bought for my booth, I have to let something go from my house.  Well not in this case I’m not…..look at this little pig that I bought at an estate auction….

……isn’t he adorable!

He’s a heavy little fellow for being as small as he is.

At the same estate auction, I was the winning bidder of this wooden horse tricycle bicycle.

I’m not sure if it is an antique, but it sure is unique looking.

On another note, we just installed a heat pump in our garage.   I can’t tell you how happy I am right now having that.  Now, I don’t have to use my gas grill for heat anymore…LOL!  I’ve been painting up a storm and have a lot to show you what I’ve been working on.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a Blessed day.

My Cozy Little Corner

Hello everyone and Happy Valentine’s Day!    I haven’t done much this past week other than laying around because I have not felt well with a cold.  Now that I’m feeling better, I’ve been making some changes around here.  My cozy little corner in the family room was the first place changes took place.  I removed the two black chairs and replaced them with a wicker chair.

003

A few weeks ago, Charlie and I went to an indoor yard sale and this wicker chair was the only purchase I made that day.  It is in excellent shape and is well made and very comfortable.  Originally, my plan was to resell it but I think I’m going to keep it for myself.

006

Did you happen to notice the pillow?  Here’s a close-up.

Well I made it and I also made this one too.

020

I used a drop cloth to make the pillow covers and I then stenciled the patterns on using the stencils that I bought from Maison De Stencils

007

I have also removed all my winter greens and started creating new vignettes for the spring.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  It’s a four day weekend for Charlie so we are planning on doing some flea marketing this weekend…wish us luck!

Thanks for stopping by.

A Frenchy Chair Make-0ver

I’m on a roll…two posts in the same week! A few months ago, I bought this chair at an auction but it didn’t look like this.

002

It looked like this.

001

I painted the whole chair with white chalk paint including the fabric.  I then used brown chalk paint to trim it out.

006

I used one of my Maison De Stencils grain sack stencils that I ordered and stenciled with Martha Stewart Vanilla Bean acrylic paint.

004

Then I distressed the chair and applied the Annie Sloan clear wax to the whole chair including the fabric.

008

All in all, I’m quite happy with the way the chair turned out.  Originally, I was going to replace the fabric but decided that I would try painting it instead.  I have to say, painting the fabric was very time consuming and it took about five coats to completely cover the fabric.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Chalkboard Door

This is the last of the doors that I bought many months ago from the Habitat for Humanity Restore.   At that time, I purchased four of them and set them outside by my shed.  I have sold three of them since November.

006

I am finding out that as of right now, anything chalkboard, black or green is really selling.  With this door, I covered all three.  It’s a chalkboard and painted black and green.

004

I made a No. 3 and Menu stencil using my Cricut and stenciled them on the door.

005

I plan to make a trip to our local Habitat for Humanity Restore sometime this week in hopes of finding some more doors!

006

I also hope things slow down just a little so that I can do a few things in my own home.   I feel like I have neglected my home and my blog since opening up my little booth.  I have missed you all.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

I’ve Moved To My New Space

On Tuesday, Charlie and I loaded up my SUV and took the few furniture pieces, that I had just finished painting, to my space at A Unique House of Antiques.   While we were there, we were able to move my things to my new space.   Today, Charlie and I go back to the Unique House of Antiques to take a few more things that I had finished working on and boy was I surprised.  This piece that we just took on Tuesday SOLD!

032

And, this piece, that I just took on Tuesday, SOLD as well!

015

And two other pieces of furniture SOLD!  This cedar chest…..

049

and the jelly cabinet.

037

Thank goodness I took a few things with me today to place in there, otherwise it would look pretty empty.  This is what my new space looked liked when I left today.

006

007

Well, you know what I’m going to be doing…treasure hunting for more furniture pieces to transform.   I have just about depleted my inventory of furniture in my shed and garage!

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
