Back in the summer, I purchased this night stand at an auction. It was missing a knob and was in need of some repair.
It sat in my shed for months waiting for me to decide what to do with it. It wasn’t until I saw Kim’s table make-over at Savvy Southern Style that gave me the inspiration I needed……I painted it black!
It was funny the day I started painting it, I received a call from Unique House of Antiques. They had a potential buyer that was looking for black distressed furniture pieces.
I don’t know what it is about black, but I have sold every piece of black furniture that I have put in my little space. I’m thinking that maybe some of the other pieces of furniture I have should be painted black.
I really like the black on this piece and hopefully it will sell quickly too.
Charlie and I attended an estate auction this past weekend. I can’t wait to show you some of the things we purchased.
As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week.
Gail

I would be one of the customers waiting for black items....very classy looking!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome makeover Gail!! I plan on painting a piece in my oldest daughters room black.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little table, Gail! Can't wait to see what you got at the auction. I'll bet they have some great things there. Funny you painted this black. I finally decided an armoire I have that I painted black a couple of years ago needs to go white now to fit in better in the guest room. Oh well, it's just paint, right?
ReplyDeleteHi Gail! Oh, how pretty your little cabinet turned out! It looks wonderful in black and is so elegant looking. You did good.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,

Love it! It is a beautiful piece and so pretty painted black! I'll have to try some black pieces in my booth! The one color I did go wrong with, was AS Florence, I found it unfortunately doesn't sell well! ha!
ReplyDeleteWow...great transformation. Love it. Thanx for sharing. Tiff
ReplyDeleteGail, this piece looks beautiful! You are very good at refinishing furniture. I think it is an art and not as easy as it looks. You did a gorgeous job on this night table. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's looks beautiful painted black Gail.
ReplyDeleteWhat a black beauty!! didn't think black paint would look so good on an antique piece. you distressed it to perfection and it turned out simply amazing. i'm sure it will sell real quick.

This is gorgeous! I love the way that the white shows through the black with the distressing! I like black furniture too and have found that customers seem drawn to it. Seems like everything we see online is white yet there must be a lot of black furniture lovers out there somewhere! Thanks for sharing! Such a beautiful table! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing. Black really shows all the little pretty details.
ReplyDeleteYour night stand looks so good painted black. That is going to sell quick!!

It's gorgeous! There's something about black furniture that speaks to me too. I have a few pieces in my home and I love the look. You were lucky to come across this night stand, it has such beautiful bones!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous make over, Gail. I totally agree. Black is a great seller, and there is something about French pieces in black. They are so romantic. Now I wish I would have done a piece I just finished in white black. Oh well, next time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty piece! I love all the detailing on it!
ReplyDeleteThe night stand is gorgeous in black! The pretty little peeks at the white underneath is what makes it so sweet, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week! I know you are staying very busy.
Hugs, Cindy
