HOORAY!!!!! we are done with our kitchen and I’m so LOVIN’ my new kitchen.
Our kitchen remodel started a few months ago when Melissa at the Inspired Room hosted a Procrastinators Party. The plans at that time were to:
- Add crown molding at the top of the cabinets
- Install glass doors on a few top cabinets
- Paint the cabinets white
- Add hardware to the cabinets
- Install new countertops
- Install a new sink
- Install a new faucet
- Install a new tile floor
On December 29th, the final phase of our kitchen remodel was completed with the installation of our countertop, sink and faucet.
We did indeed accomplish everything we set out to do. We added crown molding to the top cabinets, painted the cabinets white, added the hardware to the cabinets, installed a new countertop, sink , facet and a new ceramic tile floor.
I spent a lot of time at Lowes trying to decide on a countertop. I ended up going with Laminate and I have to say, I love my decision!
I love my ceramic double sink and goose neck faucet. Before I had a stainless steel single sink.
In a previous post I mentioned adding an island coming off this wall. Well I changed my mind. I didn’t want to make my kitchen feel boxed in.
So, instead I decided on this corner cabinet. It’s okay for now until I find something that I think will work better. I’ll be tweaking this cabinet for sure.
and after. I even painted the table, chairs and the lighting.
I love how we went on a diagonal with the floor. It was a lot of work but in the end it was well worth it.
Well there you have it! It seems like it took forever but in the end it was worth waiting for. Eventually I would like to add a back splash and a few glass cabinet doors but that will just have to wait till spring. For now I’m just enjoying what we have done!
Blessings,
Gail

Gail,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your hubby for a job well done!! The kitchen looks beautiful. I know you guys put a lot of sweat equity into the project and your efforts really paid off.
I love the contrast of the white cabinets with your tile and the crown molding on the cabinets really finished them off. Your table and chairs look like a brand new set.
Enjoy that beautiful kitchen.

Oh My Goodness Gail! You and your husband did an incredible job ~ congratulations. What a difference crown molding made to the cabinets. They really look like custom cabinets now. And the hardware really did dress it up too. Love the sink fixture you chose. And you even painted the table & chairs which must make you feel like you've got a brand new set. I love the corner cabinet at the end of the counter, it really does allow the room to keep flowing. I noticed that you even painted the light fixture, wow you really left no stone unturned. Beautiful counters and floor. You should be so proud of all ya'll accomplished.
ReplyDeleteHugs...Tracy :)
It all looks so awesome!! i am curious, did you have to find a heat safe paint for the lighting fixture, or does that matter? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow how amazing is your new kitchen!!!!

Great job! Very nice improvement! I like the corner cabinet.

ReplyDeleteVery nice Gail! I went on the bias with my tile downstairs and while it takes more cuts, the look is like no other. Hides crooked walls too.

Your kitchen looks amazing!!! It's exactly what I want to do with mine. Well, except I don't want tile floors. But I do want to paint the cabinets white & get a new counter top. The table & chairs looks fabulous painted black as well. You should pat yourselves on the back. You did good!
ReplyDeleteGail
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen re-do looks great!
I too like the tile on the diagonal. The color palette and am intrigued by the corner hutch wall... wish you show us a straight on shot (i have a wall just like with the phone jack, double switch plate and outlet plugs)... that is the one wall in my kitchen...I JUST don't know what to do with it!
anyway...good job! love the before and afters.
There are so many things I like! Love the tile laid on the diagonal- my husband has done that too and he agrees that it is harder. Love the corner cabinet and love the newly black kitchen table set. Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteWow
ReplyDeleteWhat a great Christmas present! I'm happy you accomplished it all, I have to many rooms where just a touch of this or that still needs done. Beautiful, Lezlee

Nice job! I am thinking about doing some work to my kitchen soon, too. May I ask the brand and pattern of the laminate? Also, did you use latex or oil on the cabinets and dining set, and is the paint holding up well?
ReplyDeleteLooks great!! I have the same sink. It's so much nicer than all the other ones. I chose oil bronzed faucet too, different style.
