If Swings Could Talk

My parents received a wooden swing many many Christmas’ ago.  They both loved and enjoyed spending evenings just swinging.    After my Dad passed away, my Mom asked if we could move it to the back of their property and that’s where it sat for almost four years.  When my Mom passed away, I asked if I could have their swing.

I was so excited when my husband and I brought it home.   I power washed it, and  stained it to match our deck.

The first time my Dad power washed it ,  he actually engraved my Mom’s name, Mary on one leg of the swing stand and his name, Leon on the other with the power washer.

I purchased outdoor fabric from Jo-Ann’s  and made the seat cushion and these pillows for the swing.

I love having their swing at my home.

Now when I sit in their swing, I think of them both and just wonder if only this swing could talk and tell me the stories my Mom and Dad shared on this very swing.

Thanks From The Bottom of My Heart

Thanks  to all you wonderful people for your thoughts and prayers.  I appreciate all of the beautiful  comments and e-mails you have sent me.

The last three months has been an emotional time for my brother, sister and myself.  We have managed to clean our parents’ home of 43 years.  As adults,  I don’t think we have cried, laughed and hugged our entire life together as we did during this process.   We  had our first family gathering (Easter) without either one of our parents.  There was Mother’s Day, my Mom’s Birthday and I just celebrated my 50th Birthday without either one of them.   I think of them often and miss them.  They were two of the best people you would ever want to meet and I was lucky to have them as long as I did.  Now I am beginning a new chapter in my life.

With all of that being said, I have missed you all and am looking forward to getting back into blogging soon.

Blessings,

Gail
