Coca Cola Bottle Crate Wagon

Hello Everyone!

How do you like my worn, rusty, coca cola bottle crate wagon that I made?

021

Sometime ago, I had a wagon planter that had fallen apart from being exposed to the weather year round.  Being the hoarder that I am,  I  kept the wagon base and threw the rest away.

Boy am I glad I kept those parts because it was a perfect fit for this coca cola bottle crate that I purchased at a flea market in Kentucky!   All I had to do was attached the old wagon base with screws to the underside of the crate.

020

I’m thinking that maybe I will purchase some herbs and plant them in it or would you plant flowers?

026

What do you think…herbs or flowers?

As always, thanks for your visit and I’m excited to hear what you would plant in this little wagon of mine!

  3. Very cute Gail...I would love it with flowers and some colored bottles in it too.

  4. That is genius! I love it! Of course, I am kicking myself because I most likely had the same wagon that fell apart after weathering many seasons outdoors. I didn't have the foresight to keep the base. You are clever.

  5. Cute!!! I think anything would look great, flowers, like a bulb, in each cubby would look cool.
Thank you the sweet comment today.

  6. That was smart to save the wagon part. I love your idea of using a soda crate on it like that. You could do a mix of both flowers and herbs if you wanted to. It looks like you have lots of room.

  7. I absolutely love everything about it. I actually love it with nothing in it. It's such a statement piece.

  8. What a great idea. I would plant a wee garden with vegetables. Would be easy to keep.

  9. Great wheels and I see why you saved it. This marriage of parts is lovely. I am all about herbs these days. Pretty and edible.

  10. That looks great, Gail! Sometimes it pays to be a hoarder! : ) I think you can't go wrong with either herbs or flowers. If you use herbs a lot I'd go that route; since I don't, if it was mine, I'd plant flowers.

  11. Hi Gail, I'm a new follower! I absolutely love what you did with the two pieces...how clever! I think you could put herbs or flowers in it, but it's really pretty just the way it is. I'm fairly new to blogging but making great friends, stop by and visit :)

  12. Great idea. I would have thrown the wheels away and then found the crate the next week. Glad you saved them.

  13. Oh, that little wagon is wonderful! It would look great with either flowers or herbs. I might be inclined to plant both.

  14. It's adorable! What a neat idea, good thing you kept it! I guess I'd go with flowers since it's spring!

  15. I think that either would be perfect and it would also be perfect in my front yard!! So if you ever get tired of it...just say the word...cuz it is wayyyyyyy cute!

  17. It's a fabulous addition Gail!...Herbs are a fantastic idea, although I like it just the way it is set within your flower garden...beautiful...have a happy day, Mariaelena

  18. Hi Gail, You never cease to amaze me girl, I love that soda crate wagon!!! It will look lovely with either herbs or flowers, you need something that allow the little dividers to be seen still, I think. So maybe I will say "herbs".

  20. Gail I LOVE IT!! I think herbs would look great in there!

  21. Oh my gosh, Gail!

This is great! Personally, I'd do both!! And, I'd stagger the timing with so many spaces to you'd have both color and fresh tender herbs all season long! Sweet William (mini carnation) is compact and just buy one itty bitty one, and it will be a forever plant! Around the edges, maybe the corners, I'd plant a draping cover plant! So many options!

Wow, wow, wow, what a great find!

Have fun, and please update later in the summer!

    Blessings,
    Donna

  22. Just adorable!! I think that I'd put plants in every OTHER hole since they're close together and the plants will grow and disguise the cute little sections. I'd fill alternate sections with mulch, colored glass or pretty rocks.

  26. Oh, I say shake things up a bit and fill it with beer bottles.

Just kidding. I vote for flowers, although it looks so cute even when it's empty!

  27. Some people can look at two completely unrelated items and imagine putting them together to equal something new and wonderful. It's a creative knack I don't possess, but you certainly do! I adore this little wagon. Please post more of your beautiful photos when you decide what plants to put in it.

  31. Oh, Gail, I love the wagon with the coca cola crate! I can't believe it fit so perfectly. I guess I'd pick herbs, but either would look great just as long as they don't over grow that cute little wagon. Love it!
