Kitchen Chandelier Update

Hello Everyone!

Back in October, I purchased this brass chandelier below, for $10 at the Habitat for Humanity Restore.  My plan was to replace the current kitchen light.

Because the brass had to go, I painted the chandelier and you can read all about the transformation here.   Pictured below is what it looked like after I painted it and hung it in the kitchen.

This is what was hanging in the kitchen before I replaced it with the new “to me” chandelier.

I started to dismantle it and realized that I didn’t take a picture so you get to see it all lop sided.

My plans were to replace the lamp socket covers and add glass chimney globes on the new chandelier.

Well, I finally got around to those plans and have replaced the lamp socket covers and added glass chimney globes.

I ordered both the lamp socket covers and the glass chimney globes from Amazon

The cost for updating the chandelier in the kitchen was $47.80.  The glass chimney globes were the biggest expense.  I paid $7.60 for each one and the lamp socket covers were $1.98 a piece.

For $57.80 which includes the cost of the chandelier, I couldn’t be happier with my new “to me” chandelier in the kitchen.

As always, thanks for visiting and your sweet comments.  They always make my day.

  1. Nice update, Gail! I like how the glass sparkles and it must look very pretty lit up at night.

  2. It really turned out nice Gail! I love the color you pained it.

  3. Gail it's hard to believe that was the same brass chandelier.
You did an amazing transformation. We had one of those brass chandys at the
last house and I remember paining it black and taking off all the hardware and using it to hold tea lights while we were outside.
I would love to see yours lit up.

  4. Love your remake of this "new to you" chandy--it is so pretty...

  5. Wow, great chandelier and custom, too! It really came out beautiful.

  6. Looks awesome Gail. You really can't beat the price. Love the color too.

  8. Gail, it looks awesome! I love the colors!

  9. Gail, I love, love your new chandelier! It is just gorgeous! The color is beautiful and the chimney globes just made it so elegant! I also bought one at the Habitat store for my craft room and painted it white with red shades. You just can't beat the price!

  10. Great update! I also bought a brass chandelier for my dinning room.
Mine has 12 arms and I paid $50... you did much better!!!
I am still debating weather to paint or not. Thanks for the idea!

  11. Gail,
I love how you fixed up your chandelier. The globes add the finishing touch that gives it that extra pizazz!

  16. Gail...way cool color combo. Your fixture has an old - rustic kind of look. I like the glass. =)

  17. It looks great! It now has a colonial feel to it. It goes perfect with your other country decor items.

  18. Your new chandelier is beautiful! I love it. It's especially nice because you have created it yourself, my friend. Don't you think that makes it so much more special?
    Have a beautiful week.
    Hugs, Cindy
