Coffeehouse Sign

For those who know me, know that I love coffee and no matter what time of day, there is always coffee brewing in my home.

I have been wanting to make a  “coffeehouse” sign and I have  finally done it!

016 - Copy

I used scraps of lumber and chair rail trim that I had on hand.  I stained it walnut and then painted it all white.

My first thought was to leave it all white and stencil black lettering but I changed my mind.  I wanted a little more color so that the top trim would stand out.  I ended up painting the bottom red.

Using my Cricut, I made a COFFEEHOUSE stencil.    Immediately after I stenciled, I sanded and lightly rubbed the walnut stain over it with a cloth.

What do you think….should I have gone with my first thought and left it white with black lettering or would you leave it as is?

Did you know that the definition of a coffeehouse  is a place where coffee and other refreshments are served and people gather for conversation and entertainment.   Well, I think this coffeehouse sign best describes my home.

  1. Love it. I think it is totally perfect the way it is. So clever and looks fabulous over the window. Hugs, Marty

  2. I think it looks great! I am a coffee junky too. Can drink it at 9 p.m. and still sleep! lol I have one that is walnut with cream letters. It is metal. I love the red in yours! Its a keeper.

  3. I have a sign too. Mine is litle and sits next to my Keurig and says "Coffee is not a drug it's a vitamin".

Your sign would be right at home in my house too.
You did a wonderful job giving the sign a new and imporant life in your kitchen!!! The red is so striking.
I'll grab my mug and be right over!

  4. Oh it turned out great! I love it :) I'm with you....gotta have my coffee :D Have a great weekend!

  5. I love coffee too and this sign is just the best! Love it.

  6. I think the color combination looks great & I like how you weathered it by adding stain. I found you @ Tater Tots & Jello

  8. I think your sign is fabulous. I love everything about it. Saw you at SNS.

  9. Your sign turned out fabulous! Love the red... Love that you incorporated the molding on it...

  10. I love the red, can never go wrong with red! Great job on the sign!

  11. You wouldn't, by chance, have an etsy shop where we could get our own 'coffeehouse' sign??? Please.

  12. Love it just the way it is! The pop of red chimes in so nice with your window treatments.

Guess you'll just have to make a white one so you can trade off as you desire. :)

  13. I think it is just perfect as it is! It goes so well with the valance. Love it!

  14. Your sign turned out wonderful! I don't drink coffee but I could see one done with the word "Cocoa" on it :D Thanks for the inspiration

  15. It perfectly matches your kitchen the way you've done it - great!

  16. i like the antiqued look!

which lettering did you use to get it that height/blocky?

  17. I love those curtains. Did you make them? The coffeehouse sign is great as well. Great job! Love the color.

  18. I love that! Great job! That fits perfectly in that space and it was fun getting another peek at your beautiful kitchen!

  19. Your sign looks wonderful and if you like it, then you did it the right way! I think you would have been sorry if you had left it white with black lettering. You have a very sweet "coffeehouse" going there~
    Hugs, Cindy

  20. That's so pretty! I love it! I'm going to make a similar one that says "Beach House"!

I think I'm in love with your window treatments. I love the bubbly look of those. Did you make them? I'm going to use your search option and see if you have a tute for those. I'd like to make some that are functional-- like roman blinds but that look bubbly like that. Surely there's a way to do it cheap?

    Thanks for sharing!

  21. Love this! I don't do features too often on my blog, but I did today and included your post. Thanks!
