Enamel Top Kitchen Table Before and After

This stuff is amazing! 

It’s a spray on paint and varnish stripper.  It took this enamel top kitchen table (below), that I bought at a yard sale, that looked like this…..

….to this.

It was the easiest and fastest furniture stripping job I have ever done!  I purposely left some of the white paint on the base of the table because my plan was to distress it.

I painted the base of the table with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Typewriter and I used her wax on it as well.       

  I love the way the milk paint crackled on this piece.  I’m so glad that I left some of the white on it otherwise I probably would not have gotten this effect. 

I didn’t need to do anything to the enamel top other then give it a good cleaning after stripping the three layers of paint on it. 

I really did not expect this table to turn out like this.  I have to be honest, after I brought this table home, I had buyers remorse!  When I got ready to work on it, I really thought I was wasting my time.      

Now that it is all said and done, I think this table will probably end up being my most profitable make-over.   Time will tell because it will be going to my booth tomorrow!

Stools of all Shapes and Sizes

Today, I thought I would share a few pictures of stools that have come and gone through my booth.  Stools are a big seller for me and when I see them, I snatch them up!  They can be big or little, wood or metal and the other things is, it doesn’t matter what they look like either.  Take this old metal milking stool, for instance.  

  

It was a rusty mess!   I removed some of the rust with a wire brush and then I painted it.  I made sure that I didn’t paint over all the rust.  I left some of it.  It sold within days! 

This is another metal stool that sold within days.   I didn’t do anything to it other than stencil a number 3 on the seat. 

The stools that I have pictured below are all stools that I have transformed one way or another and they too have all sold. 

 

 

I wish I had taken pictures of all the stools that I have sold since I opened up my little booth.  Sometimes I forget to take my camera with me when I go to my booth.  And on my next visit back when I take my camera, wouldn’t you know it, my stools have been sold.   Now that my little booth is stool less, I’m on the hunt for more!

A Stroll Thru Life for Inspire Me Tuesday

Night Stands

Hello everyone, I have been plugging away on my stash of furniture that I stacked in the garage.  I just recently finished a pair of night stands that I picked up at a yard sale a few weeks ago.  Do you remember these that I shared about a week or so ago…..

….well they are both done and I have them in my booth already. 

I painted them with Annie Sloan Chalk paint in Versailles and Pure White.  Instead of using Annie Sloan wax on them, I used Miss Mustard Seed Antiquing wax.  I know I have said this before, but I LOVE her wax!  I just wish that you could buy it in a gallon size bucket but unfortunately you can’t. 

I also replaced the original knobs with little glass knobs. 

I only have two more things left in the garage to paint and they both require a lot of work.  The enamel top table below…..

and the dresser below.  

As you can see in this picture, the veneer top of this dresser is in bad shape.

   I know I will need to replace the top but if any of you have any others ideas or suggestions on what I could do with the top, I would love to hear them.

How I Transformed Some Yard Sale Finds

     A few weeks ago, I bought a few things at a yard sale that I thought had some potential, such as this little storage cabinet with drawers. 

I painted the base of the cabinet black and the three little drawers fronts white.  I stenciled the number 1, 2 and 3 on each drawer front since the drawers looked kind of plain.

I say it’s not a bad little transformation considering it took me hardly any time at all…..I love transformations like that! 

I think some of us can remember these toilet paper holders being popular back in the day (80’s early 90’s).  At one time they were all the rage at craft shows. 

With a little bit of paint and some creativity it now looks like this…..

Before I painted it, I added a textured wallpaper to the front door.   I then painted it, distressed it in a few areas and applied a dark wax to it. 

 

I already took it to my booth and at first I wasn’t quite sure if it would sell but guess what….it sold the very next day!   You just never know do you!

I didn’t take pictures of this process (I’m sorry) but imagine if you will, white bird cages and a pair of oil bronzed candle pillars holders because those finds are what I used to make these out of…..

I spray painted the candle pillar holders white and applied a dark wax to them.  I also used the dark wax on the white bird cages to give them that aged look as well.   I used E6000 adhesive glue and attached the bird cages to the candle pillar holders.  

 

I love it when I find little things like these and give them a whole new look.

Twin Chair Make-overs

Hello Everyone!  In my last post, I said that I would share with you what I did with a pair of yard sale chairs that I bought. Well here they are already displayed in my booth.   

Below is a before of what one of them looked like.

Because the cane webbing had fallen apart on the chairs, I cut it out and replaced it with a jute webbing.  I painted both of the chairs with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in yellow and waxed them with her antiquing wax.

I used a burlap bag for the seat covering and ruffle around the chairs.  I attached both with upholstery tacks.

A Chair, Burlap and Lace

  Tis’ the season for yard sales and I’m hitting the jack pot for lots of new treasures.  The chair below is just one of many thrifty purchases that I was lucky enough to find over the last few weeks.    

This chair was in excellent condition, other than a few stains on the upholstery.   There was not a wobbly part nor was there a scratch on it.  

First, before I tell you how I transformed this chair, I want to show you what it looks like now. 

My first thought was to paint the whole chair and reupholster it.  Because the wood frame was in excellent condition, I decided not to paint the frame nor reupholster it.  I did however, paint the fabric on the chair and made a burlap slip cover for it.   

I painted the upholstery with a satin white latex finish.  Before I painted it, I diluted the paint with a fabric medium.   When using latex paint for your upholstery, it is important to use a fabric or textile medium.  I diluted the paint using the fabric medium (1 part to 1 part).  I purchased my fabric medium at Amazon because I couldn’t find it in any retail store.

I can’t believe that I actually made the burlap slip covers!  Trust me when I say that I am no seamstress but I can honestly say that I think they turned out really nice.  It was trial and error making them.  I even got creative and made a pillow for the chair. 

I have taken this chair to my booth and I have to say that I really had a hard time letting it go.   But on the other hand I hope to make some money on it.

Farm Fresh Stool

When I purchased this little homemade wooden stool, I had no intention whatsoever of keeping it.  My plans were to make it pretty and sell it. 

Well, now that I have made it pretty, I don’t think I can part with it.

At least for now anyway! 

And there is something else that I purchased that I’m not letting go…...

Isn’t he cute!!  I have him hanging on my kitchen door and that’s where he’s staying!  

  This morning I went to one of our local Amish stands to purchase a few more flowers so that I could finish with my plantings.  I bought this beautiful purple flower called Heliotropium.

It has the most amazing smell.  I can see why it’s called a “Fragrant Delight”. 

I have it sitting on my screened-in porch so that I can enjoy not only its beauty but also the fragrance.   I am finally done with all the scrubbing, cleaning and planting on the outside.   Now I can relax and enjoy!

Are you ready for the holiday weekend?   We’re having a get together here on Saturday with family and friends.  I’m looking forward to it…Lauren’s coming home…YAY!  Not only do I get to see my daughter and son-in-law, I even get to see my granddoggie!!

He’s waiting patiently for Daddy to come home because he’s packed and is ready to come see his Grandma and Pa Pa…LOL !
