Architectural Inspiration

I don’t know about you but I LOVE inspiring words. I have all kinds of inspirational wordings throughout my home.  Sometime back,  I was at a blog called Room to Inspire and she had done a sign using molding that said  “Enjoy the Journey” .   I fell in love with it and thought one day I will try and make it myself.  So that day has come!    Off to Lowes I go to purchase

  • rough cedar board,
  • chair rail, and
  • rounded corner molding

025

Before I get started on how I made my inspirational sign, my sweet sweet hubby bought me something

003

Yes it’s a CRICUT Expression and I have already put it to work.  I made my stencil “Enjoy The Journey”.

001 - Copy
I painted my cedar board, chair rail and round molding semi-gloss white.  Next, I stenciled “Enjoy The Journey”  on the cedar board.

027

After stenciling I lightly sanded and then put a mocha glaze on it.

035  038

I used my skil  saw that my Dad had given me one year for Christmas to cut my cedar board, chair rail and round corner molding.  (My Dad always bought me power tools.)

029

It’s hard cutting and taking a picture at the same time.

032

I used liquid nail to attach my chair rail and round molding to the cedar board.

037

and now the finished Architectural Inspirational Sign

002

All I need to do now is decide where to hang it.  I’m thinking maybe here about the double doors or

006

here above the front door or

009

in the kitchen above the wall shelving.

013

Where would you hang it?

Have a wonderful day.

Gail

  8. Love your quote! Amazing husband too. My Mom in law purchased me a cricut for Christmas! I really would love to take a tutorial for it as I'm sure there are so many things I could be using it for that I'm not!

  14. Do it above the double doors. That way it will sort of look like the doors are trimmed out in something high-end!

  22. You are having way to much fun with the cricut! I'm so envious. Have you labeled your family yet? I love the hutch. It takes guts to paint a piece like that. Way to Go! It turned out to be a gem, and I love your floors. So many ideas. Thank you for stopping by my place...it introduced me to yours, and I love it.
