Procrastinators Party – The Kitchen

When Melissa at the Inspired Room  was hosting  a Procrastinators Party I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to join in the fun and get started on our kitchen remodel. I  knew that I wouldn’t complete the kitchen remodel in two weeks, but I do feel good about what we’ve accomplished so far.  Between juggling two on-going clients and my husband’s busy schedule, we were able to at least get started.  Below is a before picture of our kitchen.  003

Our plans are to:

  • Add crown molding at the top of  the cabinets
  • Install glass doors on a few top cabinets (at least five cabinet doors)
  • Paint the cabinets white
  • Add hardware to cabinets
  • Install new counter tops
  • Install a new sink
  • Install a new facet
  • Install a new tile floor

In the wasted space below  our plans are to add a kitchen island and put white shelving above the island.

Well this is what we’ve done so far.  Pictured below is my Sweetie planning the installation of the crown molding at the top of the cabinets.  013

Below is a picture of a cabinet we purchased at the Habitat for Humanity Restore for $25.00.  This cabinet will serve as the base for the kitchen island.  The shelving was purchased to go above the island.

I also purchased oil bronzed hardware for the cabinets.

We’ve also been shopping for ceramic tile flooring and counter tops.  We still haven’t made a decision on that just yet but will in the next week or two.

When it’s all completed, I will be sure to celebrate and you’re all invited  to the celebration.

Thanks Melissa for hosting this party and getting us started!  It’s been a project long over do.

  1. Looking good so far! We are in the same process of redoing our kitchen, but it wasn't planned. The pipes bursted and flooded everything!
My husband installed two new cabinets last night, that he made himself. I'm going to paint everything white and add glass doors to the front of mine too! It will be fun to watch your progress as I do mine.
    Have a blessed day!

  2. It's looking wonderful Gail! Your list looks a lot like the one I've been working on. We did the crown molding last week and are working on the counter tops this week. We are installing cherry butcherblock from Lumber Liquidators.

  3. Looking good so far! I'll be looking for future posts to see the progress. How great to have a hubby who helps :o)

  4. This will be a lot of work for you but so much fun for me to watch the progress....feel like I'm tuning in for an episode on HGTV!

We plan on putting up crown moding at the top of our cabinets also, adding oil bronzed hardware, and buying new countertops! We have a Habitat For Humanity Store in Georgetown,DE that we have gone to a couple of times and we always come back with goodies. Love that place and it helps out others at the same time.
