Vintage Milk Bottle

A few weeks ago, Charlie and I attended an Indoor Flea Market in Chantilly, Virginia and the only purchase I made was a vintage Harbisons  milk bottle for $5.  It is embossed on both sides with a script letter H with Harbisons Registered Dairies on it.

I did a little research on my vintage milk bottle and I found that the Harbison’s Dairy was located in Kensington, Philadelphia and closed in the early 1960’s.  The dairy is infamous for it’s bottle water tower, which still stands today.

Could it be that my Harbison milk bottle is 50 years old?   Oh well, no matter I’m using it right now as a vase for my beautiful hydrangeas that I cut from my yard.

As always, thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.

Gail

  3. What a wonderful find. I love that it has all the printing on and you were able to find out all about the company. That always makes it more fun. Love it as a vase and your hydrangeas are exquisite. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

  4. Oh, I love the old milk bottles! My father used to collect them and when he passed away, they all went missing. I wish I could have gotten one. I really like all the printing on yours.

  11. Milk bottles, and smaller cream bottles, make fantastic vases! I collect ones from local dairies ... especially Farmers Creamery that was here in Fredericksburg.

Your hydrangeas are perfect in your new bottle! (I went to the Big Flea this time, and I didn't buy a thing.)

  18. I was just searching the internet for Harbison Antique Milk Bottles and found your post. I just purchased one at a silent auction for 25.00! Wish I had found your deal, but it did go to a great cause. Were you every able to find out anymore about the bottles. I have had no luck at finding how much they really are worth. Thanks! Judy :)
